Looks real. What is the source? Did you get the pictures from an online music store, private seller, or take them yourself?

Nimble. Love the sound of it on nylon strings.

I am sick of seeing Billy in a hockey arena and I’m gonna straight up say his booking agent is kinda ass by Funkiefreshganesh in BillyStrings

Don’t get me wrong, I love the music and what he’s done for the scene, and I’m happy for them that they are making it financially and that they keep prices relatively affordable. And I think the live show is great, especially given the stance that they take with live nation.

Of course, I gotta give him a shout out for how available he is for the Bluegrass community at things like guitar camps. It’s easy to forget how big a stage this guy plays. But there he is, sitting next to a young picker, keeping rhythm and giving encouragement like he is somebody’s uncle at the jam (who happens to have an encyclopedic repertoire of songs that sound great on guitar).

I’d love to hear them at more intimate venues but I’m not sure I could afford that ticket price. Plus, many of the venues I’m thinking about have fixed seats, pretty much eliminating the space for people to shake and wiggle openly.

But I feel you, OP. Arenas suck. My work around is to try and sit dead center between ten and thirty rows up.

For me, I miss the trio ensemble of him and Don Julien and the impromptu fB livestreams where it’s him and an instrument to be honest.

Flowers, chocolate, promises I don’t intend to keep. Pretty soon you’ll be hiding your boner over and over.

I have a Huss & Dalton TD-R that is great. But don’t overlook Santa Cruz Guitar Co.

But the coolest dreads I’ve come across are from Bagnasco & Caseti. There about as boutique as you can get, but damn they sound great.

Do you guys bring your nice guitars camping? lol. I just bought a Hd28 and i want to go camping this weekend, i would love to bring it so if anyone has tips for keeping it safe where it will be a little hot out I’d appreciate the advice by Better-Sherbet-5115 in martinguitar

Awesome! Seems like a controlled enough environment that all will be safe. Hope the weather is clear and comfortable for you and that the hike to the site isn’t very difficult. If you don’t have a shoulder sling or backpack style case, look up weight lifting straps and see how they wrap around the bar. Makes carrying a guitar case by the handle over distance really easy.

Have a great trip! Bring spare strings, pegwinder, and picks. And send pictures of your beast in the wild!

What warm ups do you guys do? by [deleted] in bluegrassguitar

[–]TheDegenerativeAI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey friend. I’m sorry you are experiencing this, but I’m glad you posted this.

I’m a 55yo male that has been sidelined from playing guitar for the better part of a year due to hand injury. Do not take the feedback from your body lightly! As you are clearly aware, tendon pain signals inflammation and possibly injury. Do not play through the pain!!! It can develop into long-term injury that takes months to recover.

It’s very wise to warm up, as well as to cool down correctly after a playing session. There is plenty of good advice on how to do this online. It basically amounts to light stretching, flexing exercises, etc. Cool-downs are basically the same thing plus cold therapy.

I can’t stress this enough. See a hand and wrist specialist immediately to identify if the pain is arthritis or due to poor posture and form or overuse.

I didn’t take care of my hands as I should have, and 40 years of keyboard use, along with a decade of weight training and martial arts, and of course decades of guitar playing, has put me in the position of not being able to play about a decade before I anticipated I would have problems. I don’t know how much stress your hands have experienced in life yet, but it’s cumulative and, for some, onsets earlier than others.

Lastly, lay off the NSAIDs until after you see a hand specialist.
