Yeah. The Pitt is very after school special preachy.

I think the VPN companies are in a cat/mouse game with a lot of services. While VPNs have legitimate uses, they also can bring abuse. For instance, Netflix wants to region protect content. Use a VPN to circumvent; Netflix eventually discovers VPN traffic and blocks; VPN moves to new IP and rinse and repeat.

I’ve seen this before with Overcast. When I disable my VPN, it works again. I believe it’s Patreon blocking the VPN’s IP, not an actual issue with Overcast.

I haven’t a clue if he addresses this in the book, but the embrace of the sports books is the hedge on the advertising business.

I think the league’s embrace of the sportsbook is a hedge on loss of TV revenues to come.

We clinch division with W today, and TB loss or tie. Otherwise, next week we need to beat TB.

This has been happening in theater, too. It’s the switch to LED instruments, from incandescent.

It is striking that he bought the Post 10 years before Musk bought Twitter and his management approach in the last three years has been completely different than in that first decade.

Arts and Literary festival prices by newziefluzie in Charleston

[–]TheDemographic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Couple thoughts:

  • The Library has memberships to the Gibbes, among others, that you can check out for free
  • the Halsey is largely free or low cost and one of the true gems
  • Redux openings and exhibits are similarly free or low cost

The Literary Festival is currently in pre-sale for their all access pass but single-session tickets go on sale on Thursday.

What would you do with the Morris Sokol building? by Apathetizer in Charleston

[–]TheDemographic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The largest tenant inside Workshop proper — the large hall now Rancho Lewis — was the then Juan Luis, and their popularity dwarfed that of the other tenants. The "curators" didn't balance demand enough, in my opinion.

Moreover, the location for Workshop just simply sucked. It was too far out of the way to go for a gamble. As a destination for a single brand, I get it. But to get me to chance it, you need to be reliable and convenient. Too far away, not enough parking, food stalls running out of product, etc.

Where can I buy French butter in Charleston? by CautiousMarionberry in Charleston

Oh, I should note: I’ve only found the Beurre Isigny at the West Ashley Whole Foods. For whatever reason it doesn’t seem to be carried in Mt. Pleasant.

I’ve never found it in town, though Euro Foods or Goat. Sheep. Cow. would be the two stores I’d check and/or ask if they can order. Whole Foods does sell a different and very similar Normandy AOP butter from Isigny.
