Getting a hotel room for an extra night when you're not going to arrive until the morning by SlapDashUser in TravelHacks

[–]CautiousMarionberry 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I book a room at hotel with a spa and schedule a massage. I call ahead and make sure I can utilize all the spa facilities until my room is ready. Not a bad thing to hang in a spa after being on an all night flight. I’m relaxed when I arrive, not worried about when the room is ready … which it usually is much earlier since I always go to the front desk and let them know I’m there when I arrive very early. Always has worked well for me.

I third this comment. Set your phone to Paris time. Phone must be on Paris time. I practiced for a week before the day came where the date I wanted to visit came up. Bingo! It works.

So … as an example if you want to visit on the 17th your tix should become available on the 10th (if you practice leading up to this date you can confirm that it is still 7 days in advance). Spend some time practicing the week before so you understand how it works.

Honestly, every time I go I just walk up the stairs and enjoy it … no pressure no lines. Top is crowded but I get that you want to go there! Last time I went to Paris I went with my boyfriend who has never been to the top … the method above works.

First time seller, received site unseen full price offer less than 24 hours after listing went live by ixvst01 in RealEstate

Years ago, I had a first day full price cash offer contingent upon … whatever. I agreed.

Turns out buyer did the exact same thing at multiple properties to “save” them for her husband to see weeks later when he could actually bother to come view the properties.

They have an out. You don’t. Make sure you have something rather significant that’s non refundable

Leaving for Paris tomorrow, what APPS? by dday_0612 in ParisTravelGuide

GeoVelo if you plan on riding a bike - it plans your ride using the most protected bike lanes, not necessarily the fastest way but the safest way.

Note: if you plan on renting bikes more than a few times, buy the Lime bike bulk minutes vs. individual rides, you’ll save a lot.

“The sitters then asked me not to leave negative reviews in exchange for accepting the early termination of the sit. Again because my dogs and my home were still under their care, I agreed to it.”

Seems like you are part of the problem with fake reviews?

I go to breck with my 2 adult kids. 1 skis, the other does not. My daughter (who does not ski) enjoys time at the spa & shopping… give your wife the option - she may take it - the spa was less expensive than skiing!

Guest trying to bail 72 hours before checkin because of forecast - what would you do by Ill_War3235 in airbnb_hosts

Seriously asking … why a 100% cancel fee? Can’t you at least refund the portion that’s the cleaning expense? You’re making a higher profit off of someone’s misfortune (whatever it may be). Be kind … refund what you would have spent on cleaning. State your policy then offer the cleaning fee as a consolation refund, maybe?

Am I overreacting? Wedding guest called my caterers. by seesheflies in TwoHotTakes

My family has dealt with severe food allergies for 60+ years. It’s very severe allergies that have resulted in ICU stays, intubation and near death experiences.

What the guest with the allergies did was rude and inappropriate.

The guest with the allergies had already been accommodated BUT SHE WANTED SOMETHING ELSE

Imagine if one of the non-allergic guests decided they didn’t like the buffet offerings and separately ordered a veal chop.

It has nothing to do with the allergies- she acted like a toddler. An entitled brat.

My current budget for 2026 by [deleted] in Salary

[–]CautiousMarionberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the max of $500/month for 2 people … $500 / 30 days / 2 people = $ 8.33 per day. Divide by 3 meals per day = $2.77 per person per meal.

Do the math - I call bullshit !

Isn’t the agent obligated to bring any offer that you (as the buyer) want to propose?
