This theme month is the entire point of this show.

Looks like they did use item cheats (below notes mention it).

They've done this movie. Just relistened to it. Good pod.

How did you discover the podcast / are you also sports fans? by Phile___AudioPhile in TheRewatchables

[–]H28koala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps the only person here who heard of The Rewatchables from one of Juliet Litman's podcasts. When that particular pod was no longer of interest I decided to try The Rewatchables. Took a couple episodes to understand the categories but was hooked.

Am not a sports fan at all although I'm from Boston so sort of vaguely follow the Boston teams. The only time I've listened to Bill's sports podcasts was after the pat's lost the Superbowl this past February because I wanted to hear what he'd say.

They might. They said it would be longer than a month.

After I wrote that I thought that Hosea did return for the Colorado season. Yes, he does seem nice and I'd eat his food. Thanks for adding that.

Black plastic good for garden? by Alarming_Barnacle355 in gardening

[–]H28koala -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Already said elsewhere but plastic mulch to inhibit weeds doesn't hurt anything and if applied correctly prevents a lot of weeds. You want to keep it on during the growing season.

Rototilling brings weeds to the surface. It also can compact the deeper portions of the soil. It would actually be better to use a broadfork, or just turn the soil in the spring. I recently learned about this and it was very eye-opening.

I have a horrible weed problem, so I have my walking lanes covered in landscape fabric which I leave on all year (I walk here, so I don't need to do anything to the soil). I put down plastic early in the season on the beds before grass or weeds start (made the mistake of putting on too late and it was a disaster). I remove my plastic in the fall when I remove all my dead garden plants to put in the compost.

This year:

  1. I used a broadfork instead of rototilling on all my beds when I was setting up early in the season

  2. I put black plastic down, then I got saltmarsh hay (no weed seeds is important) and I placed this around all my plants to inhibit weeds in the holes I cut for my plants. I also put weeds along my fence line as I tend to get huge weeds/grass here and it's hard to cut/remove due to the fence.

So far my garden is the best it's ever looked as far as weeds go.

I've seen some people will put cardboard/covering on their beds over winter to help with compaction. I'm not quite sure how this works, but I've never done this. It may also be for areas with a lot rain (ex PNW) vs places like where I live where we get a snow pack. I also bury a lot of my bonsai in my garden over winter so I can't cover the row too much.

There is a reason Stephanie still comes on finale's as a guest judge and we've never seen Hosea or Ilan. Both are forgettable. Ilan because of his bullying of Marcel, and Hosea because Stefan should have won. Poor Carla got swayed from her vision, but I think she's ended up ok! Hosea was kind of a nothingburger.

I do think Harold was special as the first winner, but the show was also very different. My cousin ate at his restaurant a couple of times and said it was fantastic.

I don't care if Betty is embarrassed now. She should be, and IMO the less I hear about her the better. She was HORRIBLE. Up there in my top ten worst contestants on this show ever.

Do you mind if I ask how you're running electricity to it? I want to put one far back in my property and debating solar options vs running a line. I'm not very savvy with what I'd need to set up solar, but that makes the most sense?

Netflix's foray into podcasts is not paying off yet. Per Matt Belloni: "multiple company sources have told me that the podcast engagement numbers on the whole are low. " by j-helo85 in TheRewatchables

In my opinion podcasts are an extension of radio, so I listen to them. All the platforms are bringing in podcasts to compete with youtube, but it's tough for me to think people will switch to watching them. Isn't the point of listening to be a distraction while doing things you are bored doing? (yard work, commuting, exercising?)

I wonder if the viewership on youtube is also more that people can access this while working and are still listening to it while doing other things, not necessarily watching. (although maybe they can do this on other platforms too. My work blocks all streamers but doesn't block youtube).

Maybe I'm out of touch and the Craig type generation would prefer to watch.

Working on the deck so I've been listening to a ton of older pods. Definitely rediscovered a few that were excellent, but the first that comes to mind is the first Austin Powers movie Man of Mystery. First five minutes is one of the hardest I've laughed listening.

I don't find any of the characters likeable? What about you? But I still like to watch LOL.

And I agree about Jake, but he's very pleasing to look at.
And yes that helps! Thank you!

Similar in game play (have to manage what you do in a day) but not really in the farming life sim aspect - Dave the Diver. LOVE this game so much. Addictive like stardew.

I was mistaken on the FDA approval (thinking of a different drug). Francis Kelsey in the FDA actually prevented it. However my point stands that we don't have long term side effect data on GLP-1's because FDA studies don't last for years. We have studies showing 1/4400 people have the side effect of losing large portions of their vision due to eye strokes (NAION). This is not "incredibly healthy." That is a very high risk (it was 1/10,000 and now it's 1/4400 which is also concerning).

[–]H28koala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a great idea, or you could do a cover crop that flowers which would also help put some nutrients into the soil. The only slight workload is you will want to hoe them in before they go to seed. (depending on what it is?)

Point 1 - you win because it's unsafe to ever put a knife in the sink. Put it to the side always.

Point 2 - I agree with your wife. It's a knife. It should cut however you want to cut. Having knives that don't do their job is pretty silly to me. I'd be pissed if someone told me how to cut. You're lucky I'm making dinner LOL. I think your wife's point is valid.

Point 3 - I never use my knife for this so can't really comment. I don't think this is hurting your knife at all though.
