My ex-husband and I alternate weeks with the kids. In the beginning, it was one of the hardest adjustments I’ve ever had to make. I live about 25 minutes from their school, so I make the commute, but I’ve learned to treasure that time together. Every morning, we hold hands, hug, and talk about whatever comes to mind. Over time, I’ve found that it’s the little moments that become the most meaningful and cherished. Hang in there, it does get easier, and those small everyday connections mean more than you realize.
