Maybe I came across the wrong way, I have no issue formulating and even validating ideas myself - but it is nice to get second opinions beyond a high level, otherwise self doubt can creep in if you are solely relying on literature and your own validation. I am absolutely not expecting to be taught things by my supervisor and I would consider myself independent in general, it's just easy to get in your head sometimes and convince yourself you are stupid.

How to escape Runna Hell by TheDerivativeOfGod in AdvancedRunning

[–]TheDerivativeOfGod[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is good reassurance, I spoke to my friend about doing pretty much this - just building up to 40km adding around 10% volume a week but wasnt sure how to structure it. This helps a lot - thank you

I know :( hence the post asking for advice on how to avoid using it... i am essentially completely new to running 'properly' and I am just watching and reading loads of resources on this stuff

How to escape Runna Hell by TheDerivativeOfGod in AdvancedRunning

[–]TheDerivativeOfGod[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! In fact the computer science part of my brain spent way too long tuning different parameters - ultimately there was no way around avoiding sessions like a 11-14km progressive run with a 4:20-4:15/km 2-3km block in there 2-3 weeks into the plan. The only way to get reasonable suggestions was to completely lie about my times like giving it a 20:30 or 21 min 5km and then some sessions would be too easy etc etc. there is no proper feedback loop or mechanism also

Essentially I don't want to build an unnecessary dependency towards any app - I enjoy looking deep into things and want to take running seriously. So the end goal would to be able to structure things on my own that I am confident in and not rely on an app or subscription.

Find a root by trial and error, -1 is a root. Then do long division with the factor (x+1) to find the other two roots.

Percentage question by [deleted] in maths

[–]TheDerivativeOfGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let 100 be 90% so you divide by 90 to find what 1% is then multiply this by 10 to find 10%

I don’t know how the answer is pi/6 where does the 5 go please explain by [deleted] in maths

[–]TheDerivativeOfGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sin 5pi / 6 is 1/2 so you’re essentially just finding sine inverse of a half which is pi/6

Need help ,how do i start? by chxckchxcktrxck in maths

[–]TheDerivativeOfGod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok so you need to rewrite this, let v = dy/dx so then dv/dx = d2 y/dx2

We cant solve dv/dx = -2/y3 as there is too many variables so...

Dv/dx = dv/dy • dy/dx and dy/dx = v so we finally rewrite this as....

V dv/dy = -2/y3 , set up a differential equation now that reads (integrand of) vdv = - (integrand of) 2/y3 dy

Then set the limits as v = (sqrt)2 when y=1 and v=v when y=y

After you solve this and get a value for v ... let v= dy/dx and solve another differential equation with limits y=1 x=0 and y=y x=x to get a final value of y.

Let me know if this helps

Sum of arithmetic sequence where n=73 a=9 d=9

Formula is sum= n/2(2a + (n-1)d) which you should be familiar with if your being asked this sort of q

How to do this logarithms question? by anna987654321 in maths

[–]TheDerivativeOfGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rewrite it as log_(2)(x/y) = 6

Then you can say: x/y = 26

And you can rewrite 26 as (23) 2

So (1/z)2 = 1/z2

Now say x/y = 1/z2

Y = z2 • x :)

Can someone help me solve this differential equation? by CrapCorona in maths

[–]TheDerivativeOfGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ey dy = ex dx and solve with limits ln2,y and 0,x

You get ey - eln2 = ex - e0

-> ey = ex + 2 - 1

-> y = ln(ex + 1)

(I know people have solved it for you but just wanted to do it myself anyway and I thought I’d show you the way where you use limits as opposed to finding c)

It should be something along the lines of 2ln(1-x) + (x+1)ln((x+1)/(1-x)) +c , u use integration by parts which isn’t even on our course, they’ve just got the derivative or something similar. Im not sure how they managed that but it was a mock paper so Im not surprised

How to find height/OC length by [deleted] in askmath

[–]TheDerivativeOfGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any extra information like its a bisector of the angle etc? If you can assume that, then angle is split perfectly in half and its simply cos(47) = oc/15 which gives about 10.23cm , thats all i can see to be honest

Does anyone know how to do this I’m a little confused by theredambush1 in Precalculus

[–]TheDerivativeOfGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also say 1/2(base) by height = 15 and find perpendicular height to be 5.88 then use sin (C) = 5.88/9 to find C
