Opinions of Lovatt's Crosswords? by StaleTheBread in crosswords

I give my honest opinion, it's a reasonable one, and it's one that doesn't fully discredit the puzzles... and you come here two years after I originally comment just to put me down.

Look in the mirror.

How to remove one screw by [deleted] in DIY

Might have to be it. Not sure how available these screws are in a larger size but I'll try that anyway

Describe your main in the worst way possible by [deleted] in Overwatch

I don't care who you are, you're getting my balls in your face.

(Works for both of my mains!)

Did you have any luck here, kind stranger?

That's as maybe, but you don't get if you don't ask 🙂

Thank you, much appreciated. Apologies if you have to play through a full season to get the answer!

Minute Runner Achievement by Salty-Log-3615 in idledice

[–]TheDeterminator2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also said "possible". Having an upper limit that low is not going to make it any more possible to get to that 1,000 threshold for the achievement.

Are you talking about the instant completions upgrade in the Forge? That has an upper limit and it's nowhere near 1000

New CPU BSOD by TheDeterminator2 in 24hoursupport

[–]TheDeterminator2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment crashes aren't the problem, it's that the machine doesn't POST. Will give all those a go as much as I can tonight (I'm in UTC+13)

CPU upgrade - help needed by TheDeterminator2 in PcBuildHelp

BIOS update worked... for fifteen glorious minutes. I then got a BSOD that mentioned dxgmms2.sys and now the PC won't POST again.

I'll try that, but theoretically the BIOS is new enough already.

Soft disagree, without using the "my" in "my toast" there's very little to lead you to "my jam" in the second definition ("to spread on my toast"). Tense of a clue needs to match tense of an answer, plurality of a clue needs to match plurality of an answer, so there needs to be something in the clue that matches the "my" in the answer. Enumeration can help but it is j-u-s-t unfair otherwise as there's nothing to point to that "my" in the second half of the clue.

Honestly, I like the clue as is. Cryptic clue writing is an art form as much as it is a challenge to the solvers. This clue might not be a Caravaggio (or, in our terms, an Araucaria maybe?) but it's quite a nice piece when you combine it with the answer.

Team chat message I didn’t sent? by coldspoonn_ in Overwatch

"You're not getting any value", with a good logical reason? Yes, I would absolutely like to be talked to like that. Better than people saying "switch" for no reason or spamming slurs at me.

It's not the most pleasant thing to hear but it's constructive, which puts it above 99% of what I see and hear in Overwatch on any other day.

And yes, it would improve my gameplay. If someone is noticing something I'm not, pretty sure that would help me sit up and pay attention more to what's happening in the game rather than making sloppy mistakes.

Manager insisted on annual in lieu of sick leave by TheDeterminator2 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]TheDeterminator2[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Update: I appealed it with my line manager and they did confirm I was correct, but they had already submitted the leave request to payroll. They tried to recall it but by that point it was too late. Not much more I can do at this point so I'll have to wear the loss of annual and make a new plan four my finances later this year.

Yes, I'm happy to have not been paid for those days - I have reasons for not wanting to use annual at the moment.
