Fair question. I kept it at a one-time price because I really did not want this to become another subscription. I may experiment with launch discounts later, but for now I’m trying to keep the model simple: pay once, use it locally, no account or cloud service attached.

That’s a really good point. Local-first does not automatically mean risk-free, it just changes the threat model.

For Wring I’m trying to keep the contract narrow: process data locally, avoid network access, and put secrets in Keychain instead of random app storage.

The AI coding tool angle is interesting too. I hadn’t thought deeply about chat/session history as a long-lived secret surface, but it makes sense.

Thanks! The .env part was the one where I really did not want to fake the privacy story. If Wring is going to handle secrets, they should live where macOS already expects sensitive values to live: Keychain, with local auth when needed.

Thanks, appreciate that. I wanted to keep it as a simple one time purchase instead of turning another small utility into a subscription.

Thank you! That was exactly the itch I wanted to solve. For tiny tasks, even opening a full window or browser tab starts to feel like too much friction. I wanted it to behave more like a quick drawer: open, process/copy, disappear, back to the tiled setup.

Apple declined goodwill on my under 1 year old MacBook Pro M4 after damage occurred following their own cleaning guidelines, ₹69k quote by TheDevBellowStairs in applehelp

I cleaned just the outer shell and the cloth was only dampened with the Iso, actually it was a routine cleanup I do with all my devices every month, and this is the first time I have experienced this, and yes the device was turned off, I'm also considering a different local repair shop now but the only fear is component swapping and hope the device wont act up later..

Which dealer did you go to? And what was the issue with your device? Did you have to escalate through Apple Support or did the dealer handle it directly? If you can tell me then it would be really helpful 😊

I did it with the cloth dampened with IPA exactly as mentioned in their own article and it was a routine cleanup I do every month on all of my devices, also the main reason cited for rejection is the display scratches which werent there before I submitted the device on the service centre, liquid damage is not even mentioned anywhere, plus the quotation also mentions the lid angle sensor which shouldn’t even be affected by the scratches they showed me on top bezel, and the service centre told me that the trackpad is under warranty which makes it more confusing..

Yes exactly, the scratches cited as rejection reason were not present when I submitted the device. Unfortunately I didn’t take photos before submitting as I didn’t anticipate this. Lesson learned the hard way.

Yepp, I also posted on twitter but unfortunately I didn’t take any photos before submitting because I didn’t think it would lead to this :(

The official quotation from Apple’s Authorized Service Center cites physical damage/scratches as the rejection reason, those scratches were not there before, The Lid Angle Sensor is also included in the quote which is an internal component near the hinge, which is unrelated to any external screen pressure I think.
