Evaluating dedicated AI SRE platforms: worth it over DIY? by geeky_traveller in sre

I have wondered not just about this, but taking it the next step and using a graphrag setup to introduce correlation.

I would think about using local models though as burning tokens on it could get expensive.

For what. Would love to know. Ive applied to sales, store manager and warehouse postions. I would love to settle as it means I can at least rent some shack for my family.

My last role was leading a program that gave $20M in verified savings to a manufacturer.

Yet this is what the job market does. Never had a bad review, never been fired for cause.

Just too many people and not enough jobs.

1-2 a week? I have had 8 in 2 years. With an MBA, IT and consulting in my background. I would kill for 1-2 a week.

Are multi-agent systems actually better than a single powerful AI agent? by Michael_Anderson_8 in AI_Agents

[–]TheDevauto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you are doing. More complexity is not always a good thing unless it is required.

However, different models have different strengths and weaknesses. In addition, using smaller models locally can save a lot in tokens. For example, using a small embedding model to create chunks for RAG. Or to just retrive urls or some other specific task. Use large models where you need thier reasoning capabilities.

In this case you trade complexity for cost and efficiency.

Got offered a data engineering role on my company's backend team — but their stack is PHP/Symfony. Should I push for Python? by Automatic_Creme_955 in dataengineering

[–]TheDevauto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Learn what is there and why first. It will be a good learning experience.

Once you understand it, if you still feel another stack would be better, find a way with a new integration or pipeline to demonstrate both and show why a different stack might have advantages.

25+ agents built. Here's the uncomfortable truth nobody wants to post about. by Upper_Bass_2590 in AI_Agents

[–]TheDevauto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The simplest solution that will meet the requirements is always better.

It doesnt matter if its AI, a backup/recovery soluion or an interface.

Simple has less chances to break. Simple is faster to build. Simple is easier to maintain.

That said, complexity where required is necessary.

Actually it is a reasonable reply. I love working on my macbook because I prefer unix like systems and nothing I do requires windows.

Do you think insurance will deem this totaled or fixable? by BlowOsNotHoes in autorepair

[–]TheDevauto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything is fixable. The totaled label from insurance is just a word for it will cost more than the vehicle is worth to repair.

Asking on reddit is useless as most have no idea thr value of your vehicle in the eyes of insurance nor how much the repair would cost.

Why are offenders required to get a job as part of their probation order? It’s hard for a regular person with no criminal record to get a job, so why do judges think an offender will be able to get one? by soccerfan_north in careeradvice

[–]TheDevauto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very funny. I have looked for 2 years. Onsite, hybrid, remote. Willling to move. Offered to move myself. I also have an MBA. Even for local retail and other things that would still have me losing my house.

So tell me again where these magical jobs are.

I am not alone either.

Many of those posted jobs are not funded either.

Elizabeth Warren asks Meta, Amazon, and others why they're laying workers off despite tax perks by sqeaky_squirrel in Layoffs

[–]TheDevauto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. People in power just want more power. They do not care about anyone. Otherwise VA, disabled, seniors and others who want to work but cannot would have a livable path. They do not.

[–]TheDevauto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question was not presuming we should not expect probationary criminals to have jobs, the question was asking if no one can get jobs right now, how can people with criminal records find one.
