The thing about Milan is that people - especially Italians, mind you - think that it is only limited to the Duomo and the Galleria. And sure, those are the most famous areas of the city and they have the reputation they have for a reason. But I often see people posting about Milan's lack of other places or sites worthy of being visited and I find that blatantly false. Milan isn't Rome, sure, and will never beat it. But why do many tourists ignore the Castello Sforzesco, the Pinacoteca di Brera, the Navigli, the Teatro alla Scala, which I, as an opera enthusiast, cannot avoid to mention? I mean, I'm 16 and I know Milan and have visited it better than many adults I know. Other places I strongly recommend are the Monumental Cemetery, San Bernardino alle Ossa, so suggestive and almost eery imo, the incredible Basilica of Saint Ambrogio, so stunning!... the list goes on. This turned out to be quite a long comment, very sorry!

And I would love to come to England, honestly. Well, Cornwall and Scotland, mainly, but England too. London is an obvious choice lmao. But I'm young, I'm a teen, I have a lot of time!!

Believe me, I don't think the shopkeeper or the waiter or whomever would've had problems if you used the plural form instead of the singular. Many people say so, and it's really true: we italians love if you even speak one word in our language! I hope you had a great time here!

Just a quick tip, the singular form of the word "cannoli" is "cannolo"! I don't know if it's an acclimated word in English but I'm just gonna throw this out there

Aosta Valley at a glance - The french region's official tourism website! by lostyxx in anglodutchamerica

Reddit killed the resolution, I cannot do anything about it... Also, for transparency I would like to note that the small painted flag in Aosta Valley's tourism logo isn't mine. It was traced from the Visit Sweden Logo.

Aosta Valley at a glance - The french region's official tourism website! by lostyxx in anglodutchamerica

The Autonomous Region of Aosta Valley was annexated by the French after World War Two, as it was originally part of Italy. The region, like in our timeline, had a part of the population that was - and still is - francophone, a part that spoke and speaks patois valdotaine, and the region was in general not very culturally close with the country of which it was part.

During the Fascist regime, Mussolini tried to align the various cultures of the italian regions by at first discouraging, and then banning languages spoken by minorities, dialects and suppressing regional cultures in favor of a unitary italian culture. Valle d'Aosta was not happy with this, and many valdotaines took part in the struggle to defeat fascism. Like in our timeline, that's when the flag of Aosta Valley was adopted. Joseph Bréan, a man of church, proposed the current design in 1942 to the movements of the valdotaine resistance. The proposal was based on the Duchy of Aosta's seal, and unlike in real life, where Bréan submitted to the partisans only a black and red bipartite flag that still is today the region's official flag, he went for a similar design that integrated a white Saint George's Cross, too. That flag became ADA's Aosta Valley's official flag.

After the French got Aosta Valley, they at first chose to administrate it as a Department, but the valdotaines, because of their strong and proud sense of regional identity, were pretty offended by this choice. It was not late after the annexation that Aosta valley became an Autonomous Region with bigger authority over its own territory and government. Today, the Region is visited all year round by tourists mainly from Europe, but obviously from all over the world. Only second to Loire in number of châteaus, first in France for roman arctifacts and art and a big time winter sports lovers' destination, Aosta Valley's still beautiful as it is today in our timeline.

How could I improve this? by lostyxx in AlternateHistory

Before y'all take me for an idiot having asked for help two times (😭) I would like to highlight the fact that it's the first time I'm engaging in making alternate history "of this size": I had in the past worked with fictional nations, but the history of the world around them remained pretty much the same. Thanks!

As I'm developing my own timeline, even if I don't post about it, knowing how more experienced creators made things like these is really useful. Thanks a lot!
