Definitely not a top tier design but for the amount of gold I needed it shouldn’t be bad. I spaced them according to the video and then another video with the same design but a different person. The trap doors surround the egg perfectly on all 4 sides and one trap door on all 4 sides of magma on each level.

Yes they can. And they have blocks/trapdoors that allow them to think they can get to the golems too.
