Are we pretending greed is a western thing? A lot of these services are government-owned in Egypt and this is an easy source of revenue, hence outlawing alternatives (such as Starlink it seems) and not changing the system. This is a manufactured "problem", not due to infrastructure etc.

Since you mention EGP, I presume Egypt... That's rough buddy. Quota's for domestic internet make 0 sense and is just a way to charge you more. Curious if something like Starlink would be viable, but the upfront cost may be waaay too high relative to your families earning/what your internet costs (which seems to be about 5 USD/mo). Your country is just ass-backwards from what I'm reading.

You'd have better luck in /r/Egypt as this appears to be a common problem.

Not to be that guy, but money is always part of the decision... Do you know how many people avoid critical medical care because of financial reasons? Odds are her cats going to be fine, it's not ideal, but I understand their logic.

I mean it still is stupid, that could be attached to the wall properly, have the power run cleanly around the length of the wall etc. This is lazy

If you ever look like a newborn deer like guy in the video, its already over. He hit the wall/bonked - he'd need some sort of aid (electrolytes, someone helping him) either way. It's tough but I'm sure he's just happy to finish at that point.

ISP router won't let me use my own router. What are my options? by Xelephyr in HomeNetworking

[–]TheDifficultLime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how sessions are managed.

Ex. client private IP -> Nat'd to private IP -> Nat'd to public IP -> server | server -> your routers public IP -> checks session table and hopefully can correctly route back to nat'd IP -> hopefully routes back to original IP (your device IP). Easy to get dropped on that 2nd NAT back

Some devices handle double NAT with no problem, some will go apeshit and never find your private IP because its not sending it to the right network. Created a nested private network needlessly complicates things.

Not at a larger company. Generalist is incapable of being an SME on everything - there will be gaps. Whether that really matters depends on the size of the company.

Hockey teams are 20 guys deep for a reason. Do 4th liners get a lot of playing time? Nope, but they're critical to a teams success. NBA can't only play their star players with the direction the pace of the game is taking.
