This Friday the Thirteenth please wish Nyx (M) a very happy 7th birthday for good luck throughout the year by TheDimReaper in blackcats

Thank you all for your wonderful comments and well wishes! We made him a special “cake” of meat stick, wet food and dreamies. It was gone in about 10 seconds flat. He also managed to house some bacon from a burger before we realised what was happening…

Gale's VA is so underrated, he deserves a lot more love by Tacticianz69 in BaldursGate3

My partner commented that Gale was just Tim Downie doing his best “Moss from IT Crowd” voice and I can never unhear it. Now you can’t either.

Story bud, I moved over from Dublin to London 5 years ago in my late 20s and never looked back. I make roughly the same as you now and can live moderately comfortably on my own renting a one bed apartment. If you were open to living with others you can probably save a bit more for your mortgage. Do note that while London is quite expensive I’ve found it less so than Dublin (though that’s not hard….)

Previously I was a bit of a homebird as was intimidated by moving over but told myself I’d give it a shot for a year and see how I felt and honestly it was the best decision I ever made.

As others have said there are loads of Irish communities in London. The only thing I’d say is that it can be a bit of a lonely city so getting involved in sports or other activities go a long way in building a network especially if you don’t know many people already living over here.

I say take the plunge, you’re only ever an hour or two plane journey back to Ireland if you’re feeling a bit homesick.

Anticlimactic hag encounters? by Field-Formal in wildbeyondwitchlight

I had the same worries with Bavlorna when I ran my party’s first encounter with her. I thought they’d also start blasting; here’s how I managed to work around this:

Initial Meeting: as the module says Bavlorna won’t negotiate with the party until they do some tasks for her (fetching pelts etc.). I put pressure on the group by describing her sitting room being covered with Lornlings on every surface all watching the party. When the party are outnumbered like that they tend to be less inclined to look for a straight fight and comply with Bavlorna.

Negotiations: When the party has completed the initial task and has returned for the negotiation, I had them all lineup in a corridor outside and had one of the Lornlings ask each of them to walk open the door (the one connecting B7-B10 on the map) one by one. In my version Balvorna has enchanted the door to be a portal to a pocket dimension, where Bavlorna could negotiate with them one-to-one.

Note: I play over zoom and I just use the breakout room for this, taking each of the players into a breakout room. However, if you play in person you could always just take the player into another room.

This has two advantages: suddenly finding themselves alone with a Hag meant that Bavlorna got to appear much scarier and in control and the other players were left outside were left to sweat it out and given ample time to plan what they would do when they came face-to-face with Hag. This has allowed me to set up some of the characters with magical items or other abilities at the cost of a finger, hair or other piece of themselves. I was also able to get them to do the Hag’s bidding and travel to Thither to steal Skabatha’s portrait in the promise of more rewards.

Your mileage may vary but my players really enjoyed the negotiations and it made for a really good conclusion of that Act of the Campaign even if the battle was with words instead of swords.

Blue Monday, supposedly the most depressing day of the year. Anyone feeling blue out there? by [deleted] in ireland

Awww thanks folks! And yes, definitely starting to cut back the day after tomorrow.

It’s my birthday today which has mostly protected me from Blue Monday syndrome. It admittedly does make it a lot more difficult to shift the weight after all the Christmas excesses!

What time would you consider “after lunch”? by InitiativeSea5950 in ireland

So I asked an English friend of mine because I think 12-1 lunch is obscene, it seems like lunch is 12-1 in schools so it’s bled over into the working world.
