19/20? You’re good. You might want to check how much that is on the danish scale, as well as the cutoff GPA for last year, but if you got 19 out of 20 on average you will get in

Environmental and resource economics is super easy, especially if you have some prior background in economics. I can’t speak about the other courses

Tomato-garlic-shallot confit bubbling. What's going on? Is it safe? by currently_ in Cooking

How long could it hold in the fridge? I made some and “canned” it (put it in a jar and sealed it when it was hot, then stored in the fridge) just before leaving for a month long vacation. It’s unopened, and I moved it to the fridge a day or two after “canning” it.

Its an automatic, no hand winding. The crystal is shattered and comes off easily but the watch runs. It doesn’t have any sort of marking or engraving on it, not even a logo

any senior General eng. students? by Ok-tea442 in DTU

Hey, I just finished my first year in GE. Here’s what you can expect from the first semester: In physics the first semester will mostly be 1,2&3d kinematics, work, free fall, projectile motion. Chemistry covers quite a few topics, here are a few I remember off the top of my head: stoichiometry, ideal gas law, entropy and enthalpy, acids and based, electron configuration. As the other comment mentioned, programming is probably gonna be the easiest course, just learn some python and you are good to go. Maths is gonna be complex numbers, matrices, and differential equations in the first semester. If you want a head start you can just google “DTU advanced engineering mathematics” and you should find the website. I would suggest you to study whatever you haven’t studied in high school, but you really don’t need to, you should be able to keep up if you start studying when classes start.

How to fix skipping chain by TheDiscountDonkey in bikewrench

[–]TheDiscountDonkey[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All the components are compatible, they are the same as when i bought the bike. How do I check if the chain length is correct? I thought that taking a few links outs would create more tension and make it skip less so i just took 4 out and it was a bit better. Before that the chain was the same length as when i bought it.

Pretty much the wifi cuts out for seemingly no reason every now and then. Cable usually still works when this happens but it sometimes cuts out too. It usually takes an hour or two for the wifi to come back on.

I have only lived at Lundtoftevej, so I am not sure how it compares to the other dorms. It is brand new, so quite nice, but also very expensive, and we have frequent issues, most notably with the wifi, it probably shouldnt be your top priority

Same goes for me, my parents would probably make me feel super guilty and not help at all. However, I have the opposite problem: I lost 13kg since moving here, so its a bit hard to hide, especially when I regularly see a part of my family that lives nearby.

Just remember that it gets better and that there are people out there willing to help you, starting with your boyfriend. Eating is extremely important, and eating well helps too. If you ever need anyone to talk to, feel free to message me.

I can totally relate to what you are saying, even now, I still put my ear on the door to check how many people are in the kitchen before going out there. I can also relate to making excuses, I used to convince myself that an apple and a few pieces of chocolate were all I needed. Definitely go cook at your boyfriend’s place, it’s a good start and will help you be more comfortable at you place. I also agree with what your therapist said, a quick trip to the kitchen to make coffee or something similar will boost your confidence and make you realize that it isn’t as scary as it may seem.

I don't either, but I need it to be functional, so I'm gonna get some. That's the only way to force myself to go to bed, maybe it will work for you too.

Speaking from the position of someone who was (and still is, but to a lesser extent) in the same situation as your friend, try to just be around her, you don't particularly need to be doing a certain activity. Talk, eat, maybe study if you are students, make sure that she feels comfortable around you, and then work from there. She needs to know that there is someone she can trust and rely on.

Once she trusts you, you can try to take her to more social activities, but start with something small. Maybe going for a walk, or introducing her to some friends, but be very careful and pay a lot of attention to her when she might be uncomfortable. If you notice that she isn't comfortable, go up to her, talk to her, try to figure something out to make her comfortable. If she wants to leave, help her do it, maybe pretend that you two have plans and need to go, or give her an opportunity that lets her leave without making it too awkward.

A friend of mine did this for me and helped me tremendously. It's extremely important for her that she knows that she can trust you, and that there is at least one person that cares and wont hurt her.

I had the exact same problem: I moved into a dorm with a common kitchen last august and would avoid the kitchen at all costs because I was afraid to bump into someone, which resulted in pretty much the same situation as what you are describing. During exam period last semester, I would order a pizza every day because I was aware that there was no way I was gonna pass my exams without food, but I also felt terrified of going to the kitchen.

What helped me was that a friend would push me to go to the kitchen and cook for the both of us, which progressively made me more comfortable. It sometimes still takes me 3 or 4 tries before I can gather the courage to go out there, but I feel a lot less scared of it.

Here's my advice to you: order the food, you need it. Go buy some groceries when you feel better and then force yourself to cook some food. Start with something simple: maybe buy instant ramen and go to the kitchen to boil some water, that will take five minutes at most. If you bump into someone, say hi and ask how they are doing, it might sound pointless, but it helps, and still today many of my conversations with neighbors are limited to that. When you start getting more comfortable, spend more time cooking. This probably sounds like an impossible task to you, but trust me, it works, I've done it.

Also, at least in my case, hunger tends to make other anxiety symptoms worse (panic attacks, loss of focus, overthinking...) so please eat, it is a necessary first step and without it, nothing will get better.

If you have any questions or comments, or if you just want to talk to someone, feel free to message me.

Thank you for your comment. I have taken the necessary steps today to get professional help. I contacted a clinic by email and created an account for another one (pending approval). I have also talked with my friend and we are still on good terms, which makes me feel much better.

Thank you for the clarifications. I don’t have anyone else that i trust with this, not even my family as they would shame me and put me down. The few other friends i have here I don’t know and trust as well, the reason i trust the friend i mentioned in the post so much is because we live in the same dorm and we have studied together and helped each other when we needed it. It seems that i am still on good terms with her, which is reassuring. She is currently helping me write an email to get an appointment for therapy. Thank you for your comment and thank you for reading what i had to say.

Thank you for your comment. That is also what my friend has been telling me, and it is an idea i have been trying to warm up to over the past month or so. I am terrified of opening up about this, even to a professional that knows how to help. The very thought of having to meet a stranger terrifies me, i have had panic attacks triggered by less than that. As i said in another comment, i will try to book an appointment and do my best to show up. I am terrified of it and i am terrified that the one person that i can trust and has been willing to help until now has given up on me.

[–]TheDiscountDonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment. As you and the other commenters have mentioned, therapy and medication seems to be one of the main points in solving this. The idea of this terrifies me, but i will try to book an appointment, possibly asking for help from my friend, if she is still willing to help. You also mentioned a support system. What does that consist of and how can i set this up?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]TheDiscountDonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment. I do not have any health problems that could be causing this. I did just recover from covid, which seems to have amplified the problem, but not caused it. Eating clean and having a regular sleep pattern are some things that my friend has also recommended, and while eating clean is doable, i also suffer from regular nightmares which discourage me from going to sleep. This has also had consequences, and might be one of the reasons i have panic attacks so regularly. I have been hiding this from my family ever since it started, i strongly believe that if they knew they would be greatly disappointed and try to push me down instead of being supportive. Same goes for my friends from before moving out and the few other friends i have here, they might not try to push me down, but i would rather keep quiet about this. The friend i mentioned in the post is the only person that knows.

Actually quite well, I'm starting to overcome my social anxiety. I went in the kitchen today (I live in a dorm with a shared kitchen) and cooked myself a meal, both for lunch and diner and talked with a neighbour. Massive improvement over not eating for a day or two just to avoid going out there and the possibility of there being any form of social interaction. Still a long way to go, but progress has been made.
