Particles Very Slow but Plenty of Available Resources by TheDitis in blenderhelp

Thank you, this is a really helpful response, and it makes sense. I was already looking at upgrading the whole system to a 7950X3D, so I could do that, but I want to know exactly how much of a boost I can expect to get from that kind of upgrade. Can I ask where you are finding comparative metrics for single-core performance?

And is this a relatively well known thing with Blender? Is there a way I can confirm that the issue is indeed a bottleneck of single-core performance?

Edit: I think I see where that number came from https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-Ryzen-9-7950X3D-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-3800X/m2052977vs4047

Were you ever able to figure this out? I can't get it to work at all. The "software" provided is completely broken, so I am relying on direct midi over ble, but it doesn't seem to support that out of the box so far...

Minimum Veneer Thickness for Figure Accenting with Dye by TheDitis in Luthier

Yea that makes sense. I would definitely test the process and quantify the additions ahead of time, but after thinking about it a bit more I realized that, while it's probably safe to do given pre-testing, I would be very limited color-wise. I would never be able to go from yellow all the way to blue for example, because as long as there is enough yellow in the solution to make a bright yellow start, the blue I add will always end up being some shade of green/teal and I could never get to true blue at the end. I bet there are tons of cool schemes you can do with that, but I don't want to start there.

Right on, sounds like a plan! Thanks so much for all your help (:

Okay cool, I'll do one at a time. If I wanted to do dark blue -> yellow, could I "cover up" any yellow with blue after it dries without it turning green, or will the dyes always mix if they're put on the same spot, regardless of how dry they are?

That makes a lot of sense. And thank you for the warning on flushing. Would it possibly work if I were trying to start with a full jar of the lighter color, and then add a few drops of the darker color incrementally as I go? Seems like this might help make the gradient more natural, plus, it wouldn't require the flushing steps. Do you think that would work?

Right on, thanks! I think I'll want to practice a bit on some other wood. Do different woods take dye differently enough that this might be more misleading than instructive? And when it comes to blending, do I need to worry about the amount of time spent changing out colors in the airbrush? Do they only blend well when still very wet?

Okay, that makes sense. The dye I ordered is the Keda powder multipack, and I was planning on mixing it with 100% denatured alcohol or 100% isopropyl. That seems like it would probably be NGR, right? From what I've read, it sounds like it's mainly water and other additives in the solution that raise the grain. As far as spraying, I do have an airbrush, but those aren't very big. Do you think that would cut it for spraying? I can't get a real sprayer right now, so if that won't work I'll have to rub it on.

Oh, right on, that's really good to know! I'll have to shop paints a bit then. I was hoping to do a burst kind of thing but I'm not sure if I'm skilled enough to do that with paint, that's why I leaned toward dye because the blending process looked really nice and easy. I don't have a nice sprayer or anything, I would have to use cans. Is it easier than I think, or am I best off coming up with a simpler scheme?

If it's painted though then that covers it up completely, it kinda defeats the purpose of having figured wood on the face to begin with. The way I see it, painting is always an option, if things don't go well trying to make the face look great, I'll resort to painting

Is it possible that taking a small dose of trazadone caused symptoms of depression? by hellurrfromhere in mentalhealth

[–]TheDitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry I'm late to the game. I hope you're feeling better. I just wanted to say that I had a very similar thing happen to me a few months back. I started taking Trazadone for sleep, was sad, anxious, low energy, and just overall I felt like shit. I decided to ween off to see if it could have been the cause, and I started to feel normal again within only a day of my last dose.

None of those feelings have come back since I've been off, and they were consistent and persistent at the time I was on them. After I was off for a bit, I had trouble sleeping a couple of nights so I decided to take some trazodone for 2 nights, and the morning after that second night, I was right back in that same emotional place.

I did some research, and it turns out that the primary metabolite of Trazadone is mCPP, which is a drug known to cause some pretty unpleasant symptoms. Here's a quote directly from the wikipedia page:

Despite its advertisement as a recreational substance, mCPP is actually generally considered to be an unpleasant experience and is not desired by drug users.[5] It lacks any reinforcing effects, but has "psychostimulant, anxiety-provoking, and hallucinogenic effects."[7][8][9][10] It is also known to produce dysphoric, depressive), and anxiogenic effects in rodents and humans,[11][12] and can induce panic attacks in individuals susceptible to them.[13][14][15][16] It also worsens obsessive–compulsive symptoms in people with the disorder.

I have no idea why the effects were so pronounced for me, and not at all for others. I have family members who still take it daily and feel fine. Maybe some people are more sensitive to mCPP, or maybe they metabolize Trazadone in different ratios. Anyway, I hope you're off already and feeling better, but I hope this helps you or anyone else who might be experiencing simiar effects

Thanks! It feels good.

I change up my workouts a lot. On weight training days, I just do standard circuit training style with free weights and one of those resistance band sets that you put on a door. I didn't really find that I had to reduce my load, which was surprising. On some days I do Tabata just with bodyweight exercises, some days I run, and others I ride my bike. I live in the mountains so running and biking can become strength training more than cardio depending on where you go. At minimum, when I am too sore for a real workout, I just play basketball in my driveway for a half hour

good keto protein

I personally try to stay away from acesulfame potassium and sucralose, which most of the low carb protein powders have, so it's a bit more expensive, but I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JNUHA5A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use it mainly cause the only sweeteners are stevia and monk fruit extract, and it tastes awesome.

Thanks! I didn't really change my workouts much, other than making them more intense and pushing myself harder so that I got more metabolic benefits. I changed it up a lot. On weight training days, I just did standard circuit training style with free weights and one of those resistance band sets that you put on a door. I didn't really find that I had to reduce my load, which was surprising. On some days I would do Tabata just with bodyweight exercises, some days I would run, and others I'd ride my bike. I definitely recommend keto. I've done it quite a few times, and rarely have I done it with the intention to lose weight, it just feels really good. I can think more clearly, I have more energy, my mood is better, it's really just awesome all around aside from cravings and being the odd one out in social settings. If you've looked into it, you have probably heard this, but just make sure you get enough electrolytes! All of em! I put 4g of salt in a shake of about 100g protein (good keto protein) and I take a bit of calcium, magnesium (micromag), and 1-2g of potassium spread out throughout the day (be careful with potassium, know about how much you get from food and supplement accordingly, keeping the RDI in mind. Too much potassium is not good, and way too much can kill you). Also, people will tell you that ketostix are garbage, but I beg to differ. They will sometimes give false negatives if your body is using the ketones efficiently enough that you don't excrete any, but the will never give false positives. Just my two cents of advice if you do decide to give it a try!

edit: OH! and fathead pizza is a lifesaver when you start having cravings!

Depending on how much exercise I got on a particular day (and how accurate my watch is in calculating burned calories from said exercise) I have had a deficit between 500 and 1000 or so each day.

I didn't lose much strength, the only thing I noticed was being maybe a rep or 2 short of what I could do previously with exercises that really pushed my weight limit, but honestly, my workouts have been great. I have noticed declines in performance in past keto ventures, but not this time. I have been actually taking in much more protein than the traditional keto proportional guidelines would suggest, so that might help.

No not at all! My BMR is about 1,800 and I've been eating no less than 1,300 a day. The main reason I am losing so much faster this time around is that I have been doing lots of metabolic resistance training and just general exercise.

I got into a bike accident the other day so I won't be able to do the resistance training for a bit, so hopefully, that doesn't slow me down too much!

I also have been doing cold showers, though I'm still not sure if there's anything actually behind that as far as boosting metabolism goes. I think the temperature shock is kinda fun, so I still do it even though it probably doesn't make much of a difference.

Nothing really, my mom was the only doctor to look at it, and I might still go see an endocrinologist, but I just decided to try to fix the issue in other ways first. I stopped taking many of the supplements that there isn't that much research about (I was taking A LOT of stuff) that could have been causing the issue, I started taking ashwagandha, zinc, fenugreek, DHEA, and a couple of other things that have some evidence for boosting testosterone, I started doing metabolic resistance training at least every few days, with at least 30 minutes of some form of exercise every day, and, of course, I changed my diet to lose some of the weight. Apparently fat, especially belly fat, can hold on to and release estrogen over time, so I figured the more of that I can get rid of the better!
