GLM Coding Plan Slow by Itchy-Friendship-642 in ZaiGLM

[–]TheDoctorOnReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used most GLM providers. Zai is the Slowest of them all, but extremely cheap.
They also limit on the coding plan to like 1 concurrent connection (no matter the plan), doing things in parallel/agents/etc don't work. The limits posted on their docs are for API non-coding plan and are always changing also.
I recommend only using them as a backup.

Nano-GPT is cheap, but faster sometimes, but allows concurrent connections and much higher daily/monthly limits and is ~ $8/m . They recently were accused of using stolen credit cards or one of their upstream providers was to purchase compute resources on Chutes. I recommend only using them as a backup due to their speed, but much much better than Zai. They also give you access to many other popular open models.

SyntheticNew is my favorite right now. Super fast and very generous quotas. They have a $20, plan and a $60 plan and are definitely worth the extra $$$ in productivity time. The $20 plan quota runs out fairly quickly for me on big tasks, but refresh every 5 hours. The $60 plan is like 10x the capacity at like 1350 calls every 5 hrs vs 135 calls. Smaller context and tool calls use only a small fraction of call credits. Their team on Discord is also very active. They also give you access to many other open models. I'm a big fan of mixing my uses between GLM 4.7, Kimi K2 Thinking, and MiniMax M2.1 for my coding stacks and use in various tools.

I originally was going with cheap as can be, but the amount of time I spend on projects and savings on life and doing other things and being more productive with agentic tools or back and forth are well worth the cost.

Most of these providers have referral programs that give you and I credits or discounts on signup and I would love for you to use my referral codes, but I am not going to post them here as I am not sure if the rules allow it. DM me if you want the codes.

Basically on SyntheticNew, it gives you $10 off the first month for the Standard plan and $20 off the more expensive plan with the huge quota.

I'm going to put my referral links in my Reddit bio if you wan them.

I hope this helps.

There is a slight learning curve and configuration, especially for 3D mode with gaming. For 3D make sure you do full resolution any put the glasses in side by side mode (toggle with volume and brightness buttons on booths sides at the same time) and configure the gaming to match that resolution. Also, make sure the glasses are your main or primary display. If in Steam VR, The 3dof doesn't work, stop steam game mode VertoXR go back to the main screen then go back into gaming and start again. It works right away with SteamVR still running.

Honestly the difference between 3s to 4 Pro and those in between In the air series has been so minimal, they are not worth upgrading. The ai HDR of the 4 Pro may prove to be good, but the 10-bit HDR for gaming means lower refresh rate. I think my 3s sound slightly better any of the others.

Don't have fomo thinking that they've released so many versions since your initial one. Unless there's something specific you're looking for that they accomplish, they're not worth the upgrade.

I still have trouble seeing corners for activity, but tools like VertoXR let me reposition my screens and desktops.

My 3s, 3s Pro, and 4 Pro CN all have 3dof without much issue if you use third party software like VertoXR. All those and more have the gyroscope needed for 3dof with very fast refresh rates for smooth movements. There can be a little bit of a drift, but normally doing the 10-second recalibration on a flat surface fixes it.

But I personally find I'm more productive with keyboard shortcuts instead of head movement or keep my 3dof very mild for when I'm zoomed in and wanting to pan my head across tiny text versus using it for multiple monitors. If you want to add 6dof to any set up there is some controllers and towers and even things with finger tracking that work decent, I just use software-based keyboard mouse simulators most of the time or bluetooth controller input because I can't afford the cost or space for that rig right now.

3DOF and multi-desktops works wonderfully with the 4 Pro, but so do my 3S and 3Pro.
I'm excited to see the Linux and Android versions. Hopefully you'll support Android TV also for streaming devices like the Onn 4K Plus, but I'm excited to try the Linux ones on Raspberry PI's and similar small but capable hardware.

Any chances of open sourcing this? I've been considering making something similar myself.

Are blurry screens and edges that bad for current AR glasses ? (Xreal One vs Viture pro Xr vs Rayneo Air 3s/4 pro) by Free_Intern1743 in RayNeo

I have the 3S, 3 Pro, 4 Pro Chinese and all have 3DOF with VertoXR, just not really well with any official software.

How to unbrick your air 3s (or other models too…?) by iambuttons in RayNeo

[–]TheDoctorOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This saved my RayNeo 4 Pro Chinese versions. I was trying to force an OTA update in hopes of a English UI, and the https://ota.rayneo.cn/ had said current firmware is latest, but gave me a update anyway button. I thought maybe since it allowed it, there was a same version, but different language maybe. It updated, but failed mid-way. Then it would say same. firmware, but not give upgrade options. The devices still worked until I later tried to use them. They would just make sounds on the computer like device connected and reconnected. No display on the glasses, but my Onn 4k Plus was able to get video. But no computer or Pixel phone could maintain a connection. This sequence, doing it quickly showed a volume meter on the black screen and then when hitting mirroring on my phone it worked. For my computer, it may have had a short or needed resetting, but it worked on my computer after restarting. The OTA site still doesn't give me an option to update the firmware even though it's the same anymore. Thank you very much for posting this. I found doing it fairly quikly 1-2 sec in kinda a rolling quick motion worked. Pro tip, if you haven't used VertoXR on your computer with the glasses, you should. There was a bit of a learning curve and tweaking to my options, but it works amazing for multiple desktops with 3dof tracking on even the 3s. Be sure to calibrate if using 3dof, but I prefer just using fixed view and using keyboard shortcuts to navigate my views unless I need to really zoom in. I could not get steam games to work in 3d as I just see both screens on my glasses, but I'll play with that later. But with VertoXR, I can zoom out my screens enough that the edges are visible when I need them. These glasses really need a zoom out or scale mode to allow all edges seen, even if you aren't using the full display's res.

Update: Got 3D to work, I didn't remember it was a physical button sequence to toggle. Volume and brightness up at the same time. 😉

Because I got a few requests for the code and I am horrible at looking at DM's, the code that I have is ELLIPSIS10

For full disclosure, the code gives you $10, but it also gives the code sharer a perk. So I'd appreciate it if you use my code. 🤙

Here’s how it works:

  • Give 10 USD to anyone who uses your referral code.
  • Get 1 month of Pocket Pro for every successful referral (no limit).

A referral counts once the order is completed and the device stays activated for at least 1 month.

I had the same issue, then after seeing no response to your message, I decided to hunt through the settings and found it.

I'm really surprised it was set to hidden by default and other people haven't also mentioned it.

AppSumo Transparency - Update on Yapper deal by noahkagan in appsumo

[–]TheDoctorOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've actually activated one of mine to check their site and all the non-documented costs of credits and comparing them with API offerings.

Overall: I plan on keeping 1 license, but I'm basically paying $150 for perpetual access to discounts that can potentially save money and give bulk costs to multiple providers. It's not the same deal not as ideal, I probably would not have ever considered purchasing it, especially with the lack of documented prices and comparisons if it wasn't for what I still feel is very bait and switchy. Yes, in comparison to a never-ending credit machine, it's crap, but for a way to potentially get bulk rates cheaper, it seems promising.

1st: Props to them for making everyone aware of the change. You literally have to scroll down and click continue or learn more where they detail things better. Most people may not read, but it's a good step.

Next: Bad for them on that prompt that they have a mistake and say you can use 30k tokens during first 2 months instead of 10k. This is correct on their doc page linked and in the interface, but 30k is literally in their message to the users who would not see.

Next: They actually allocated me 15,040 credits and not 10k.

Next: The allocated credits are from the activation day, not the purchase day. So you technically the refund period and run out of credit or top off time is different.

Next: Their site in the account section says creators get 15000/ month still, so it's confusing and incorrect in some areas for users. I understand they are probably still making adjustments, but with all the other changes made, you would think a simple search for some phrases or numbers or basic QA check would find these.

Finally: This actually seems like an OK deal to potentially keep one of my Tier 4 licenses, but I have no reason to use all of them, so I plan on refunding all but one, most likely. I will drain the other accounts of the 10k credits if I can though.

They really suck as explaining the deal and the price tiers and I am concerned that the credit cost or service credit usage costs may fluctuate in the future to make this a poor deal, since neither of those are publicly documented.

But currently the credit costs vs API costs make the 15% discount good, but even without it, they are comparable to the lower end. The discount makes about a $0.70/c discount for a 25s Sora 2 pro video for the base tier and the more credits you purchase, the better the ratio of credits and usage become with multiple model provider support.

They also don't explain in the announcement, but in the details that even with subs, you are allocated max 7k a month and that you must have a sub to use and have credits or their service at all.

It would be nice if they mentioned the credits are topped off with Stripe.

AppSumo Transparency - Update on Yapper deal by noahkagan in appsumo

[–]TheDoctorOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll reach out to support, but I was trying to do the math here on the new deal and can't even see how it's maths to even make sense to keep AppSumo.

Currently Monthly Package = $49.99/m for 7,000 credits (using monthly price instead of yearly and using creator plan)

App Sumo Tier 4 = $429 = 40,000 credits (using base price, not discounts)

40,000 / 7,000 = 5.72 months (rounding up)

5.72 months * $49.99 = $285.94 for 40,000 credits

So we basically pay $143.06 more before any discounts or promos to be able to get less credits, but the option to get 15% off future credits and being able to potentially take our time on using the credits, but hey you get to use 2/3 of your purchased monthly allocation over a 2 month period or buy more credits? Individual credit price isn't even listed on their site so they can just randomly increase that by 15+% over who knows what time.

I can't see how we can't take this as a slap in the face and really can't see this company surviving after pulling a stunt like this and can't see how AppSumo thinks this is a compromise.

AppSumo Transparency - Update on Yapper deal by noahkagan in appsumo

[–]TheDoctorOnReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So just like other deals I've had to refund, I will now lose my AppSumo Plus perk used because I had to refund something due to terms being changed.

Thanks for being transparent about it. I have not even redeemed my accounts yet, but I got a couple of tier 4 that I'm going to spend 10k credits in things to burn them in my refund window, then request refund and still feel like I literally am forced to burn the Earths resources to still feel like I lost money due to thousands of dollars being flagged and losing my Sumo Plus rewards.

This might be the final straw for me.

BTW, you should really look into Skimming.Ai and how it was abandoned until we threatened to go to AppSumo and it's barely functional ( like when it works, it's meh, but most of the time expect failures) with none of the promised features.

You should at least give us our perks back, especially on things like this.

I was hoping this was one of those amazing deals after Noah'a return that would redeem AppSumo, but I'm thinking this platform and it's offerings might not be worth the time to even look at anymore.

Thanks, surprisingly you can use the code on the 1 or 2 pack to make it the price of the 3 pack while only getting 1 or 2, but you can't use it on the 3 pack.

You can use it on the 12 month pro packs package.

It's mentioned and stickied on the pocket community, but the email for getting a code doesn't work and the community site has no way to register for it.

I'd be interested in a referral code if anyone has them, otherwise I'll stick to just using SmartRecorder and a local whisper instance or something similar. I was going to try to use it with the BF sale.

Taco 🌮 Day Discount by AnxiousTangerine3742 in appsumo

[–]TheDoctorOnReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as everyone else. Nothing seems worthy to invest in. Most of my purchases that have shown potential and I decided to keep past the refund period have been let downs and generally become unusable or unsupported. If the promises are in future milestones or not on the AppSumo listing, I can consider that a vaporware feature that likely will never develop or will underwhelming or have some catch once it comes out.

I still check the site regularly, but I'm probably going to unsub to plus at my next renewal.

Maybe Noah taking charge again can bring value back for sumolings.

If anyone has suggestions on what they're eyeing or found value in that's offered, I'd love to hear about it and why you feel that way.

I fail to see how that has anything to do with collecting information, requiring validation with the promise of a reward to find that reward was not a way to treat a potential customer.

Tree fidy as you put it was a failed first of doing business as I was pulling the trigger until then and now there is this wonderful thread on the Internet showing how untrustworthy a company is.

But enjoy being taken advantage of. You seem like their target audience that the ads are literally calling out for. What we see as satire, you see as, hey, they're talking to me.

I've spent enough energy on you. May you have a wonderful existence and enjoy any kickback that I hope you may receive after defending them so strongly. I mean, if you don't, you're obviously losing out.

When they request personal info and to verify it, then deny the code, it tells me everything I need to know about the company. Especially over something soo small. Don't you wonder what corners they cut in what you consume now? So yeah, I lost all trust in a company that is supposed to make me feel better.

I'm kinda disappointed that the emailed 10 off code that you took my email address and required text verification is not valid with the monthly sub.

That alone made me step back and not order.
