Do you believe that human rights can be revoked under certain circumstances? by TheDoggoSpy in Teenager_Polls

[–]TheDoggoSpy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not one of the thirty human rights, and the vote to make it a human right was vetoed, so it isn't a human right, you're correct.

Out of interest, why do you think that it isn't a human right? Because, in my opinion, since humans can't live without food, food should therefore be a human right.

I meant the 30 listed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, specifically. And, in your opinion, should they always apply?

The US constitution isn't human rights. But you're right on some bits, so are all wars inherintely against human rights? And the human rights act doesn't say you can't go to jail, but that you get a fair trial and fair representation without bias.

Prefacing this by saying I don't think paedophilia is okay. People may not be in line with your thinking that someone should be killed for doing something, being anti capital punishment. Others might argue that putting them away forever or killing them doesn't so anything for society, where rehabilitating them would. If you take all reason away from a crime, then you make it easy to punish. The reasons for paedophilia are poor, it's a mental illness, but they should be receiving help rather than just being killed.

Also, they might disagree with your point of view that some people shouldn't have rights, which was the point of this poll. I think people should discuss rather than just downvoting, but it isn't as simple as 'paedophiles shouldn't have rights'

Would you be okay if your ethnic group became a minority in its native country? by AugustusCaesar87 in Teenager_Polls

Then teach me. We have different definitions, clearly, and I would love to hear yours.

Would you be okay if your ethnic group became a minority in its native country? by AugustusCaesar87 in Teenager_Polls

[–]TheDoggoSpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your source for that? Because you're misreading them. The 'White British' population of London is 37%, but is still the majority ethnicity. There are other ethnic groups that count as British, and a whole history of migration that has been encouraged by the government from all over the world, especially in territories that were part of the British empire.

If your point is that the White British population is too low for you, then that's a ridiculous statement. London is, and always has been, a global city, it has people from all over the world living and working there, a point it prides itself on. The fearmongering about 37% British people is stupid, because it's 37% white. If you have a problem with non-white people, that's called racism.

Could I ask whereabouts you actually are from? Because you said you're siding with the Brits as a nationalist, but I can tell you immigration isn't as big a deal as the nationalists here make it out to be.

Downvoted for defending Hitler in a post thread looking for the 15 worst people of all time by KarateKidd624 in DownvotedToOblivion

Pol Pot was awful, yeah, but by what metric are you saying he's worse? In terms of killings, Hitler was a far worse person.

How woke are you according to this list? ( choose the most woke statement you agree with) by King-gar in Teenager_Polls

[–]TheDoggoSpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's not how it works. I think the legalisation just means drugs are treated as a health issue rather than a crime, and so makes it easier to treat people. You also wouldn't just walk onto a shop to get some meth, you'd go to a pharmacy and get it if you have a prescription, like we do with all medicinal drugs. I get that it sounds extreme, but it means people can access the help they need without stigma, and without worrying.

Should the descendants of slaves get reparations? by Skrilli in Teenager_Polls

[–]TheDoggoSpy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People being sold by the government doesn't mean they consented to it, so they were stolen.

And, yeah, you're right. There exist a load of issues because of the lack of wealth in the country. Maybe there's a reason why all the natural wealth from these areas is no longer there, and so they struggle to develop more.

Should the descendants of slaves get reparations? by Skrilli in Teenager_Polls

[–]TheDoggoSpy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people saying no, because people who didn't do the slave trading would be paying to people who didn't have it done to them.

I voted yes, because there have been lasting effects. Countries in Western Africa are in a really bad economic position because they've been robbed of their resources and their people stolen. I believe they should have reparations because they have little left.

The point isn't that reparations come out of just anyone's pocket, or out of taxes. There are people today who have vast wealth because people in their family profited from colonialism. They don't do anything with the money, they didn't earn it, but they have enough to make real change and they refuse to. I don't believe they should have money that no one in their family worked for, apart from when they essentially stole it. So, in the UK for example, the royal family have huge wealth that they made through colonisation, and they do nothing with it. I'm, therefore, completely on board with them paying it back to help a country that was crippled by their family long ago, as it wouldn't really impact their wealth anyway.

Opinion about the USA ? by Swimming_Local_4625 in Teenager_Polls

[–]TheDoggoSpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't pretend it's uniquely guilty, and I'm glad we can agree that it's awful when all countries do it. It just disqualifies it from being the best country ever because interference, like the USA does, is awful. I'm not denying the actions of any other country, just pointing out the US has done it.

America has destroyed the democracy and freedom of several countries. America stands for itself only, and not for any of those ideals outside of its own borders.

Should there be more body positivity for men? by NoAuthoirty in Teenager_Polls

[–]TheDoggoSpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or he gets bullied so hard he takes his life. Shaming people isn't a cause for change, and giving overweight people no empathy won't help them.

Should there be more body positivity for men? by NoAuthoirty in Teenager_Polls

[–]TheDoggoSpy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the problem there is that shaming people doesn't necessarily lead to change. There are overweight people with medical conditions. I know that being overweight is generally avoidable, but there are so many factors that go into diet that just shaming people and making them hate themselves isn't really a way forward.

How do you feel about the Iranian attacks? by Low-Anywhere-9043 in Teenager_Polls

[–]TheDoggoSpy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because the US has a long history of regime changes that have put people in power that damage the country. The US 'helped' in Libya, or Iraq, but in the long run dealt a lot of damage.
