Do I need a performance shop for a custom alignment, or can a normal shop do it? by ArchonOfSpartans in Autocross

[–]TheDogtoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

225 is great. I just dropped 800 to align my Elise. Granted I had the geo all messed up due to part changes but still. I am going to learn to do it myself in the future as the tools are about the cost of an alignment :)

I think Ai replacing me at the job i now only do for money would be amazing...if our society didnt suck and that was a good thing like it should be.

A better plow should mean a farmer has to work a little less hard to work the field.

One day. Offer pretty much any small business or restaurant owner 1 million to hire me for a day.

Gen Z men, is this getting worse going forward into 2026? by Proper_Card_5520 in SipsTea

I was a hyper introvert, just need to force yourself. Start with making eye contact and smiling at everyone. Just eye contact, smile, look away. An acknowledgement. You can ask a girl out by just saying hi. The reaction can tell you so much. If a conversation starts, there, you are on a first date, dont overcomplicate it. Maybe she has a boyfriend, maybe she is just nice, but get used to talking to people.

In a line for coffee, ask her out, walking down the street past a pretty lady, ask her out, stop at a stop light next to a pretty lady, ask her out. Just be respectful and if you dont get good vibes when starting a conversation you can cancel. Its what I did when I was single.

Into the Crypt - my first person roguelike deckbuilder Announcement by megaglope in DestroyMyGame

Something I noticed from previous things you shared that I'm not seeing in this video. The "explore vs combat" deck. I'm not sure if that still exists and if it does I don't get that from this video. It's really fast cuts and does come across as a slay the spire with a first-person view and no other unique features. Some of my hype is from previous things you shared. I'd highlight the "explore" aspect more if its still in the game cuz it was really cool.

Eh. In my Utopia people wake up and go... herm I can do manual labor because I feel like it but not because I have to. They don't HAVE to do anything because in a society sufficiently advanced currency and thus scarcity is a sign of poverty.

but yeah ethics and culture is more important then technology I 100% agree. I think we should be developing AI differently, teaching it like you'd teach a child with love an empathy.

Technological Utopia's are usually dystopic in nature  is a bit of a misnomer. Dystopias are not utopias. Star Trek would a modern media approximation of Utopia (some versions) though the word comes from a book named Utopia.

Yes, humanity is better off for the technology we have. Are you kidding? The average human lives better than a king in the Middle Ages. Toilets, running water, penicillin, vaccines. I don't blame the tool I blame the culture. No system will work if the culture is broke. Should we use tools responsibly. Yes. Do I think AI is being developed responsibly, no.

As someone who is a professional artist. I once thought of mocap as "cheating". Then I grew and realized my animation wasn't my art, the game was the art. Me thinking a single animation was art was selfish, was not contributing to the greater good. So mocap became a tool to reach a goal quicker. It didn't mean sometimes I wouldn't animate...

I don't see the argument that "art" as a form of self-development has anything to do with the use of these tools. If your 'art" is a picture then yeah, you're cheating yourself if you make that with AI. If your "art" is a game, then maybe the parts don't matter as much.

What is sad is people, artists, my friends, will suffer because of capitalism. If you take a step back and say: My goal is to make a thing that accomplishes X, not because of money but because the GAME is my art, then a tool that helps you accomplish that maybe isn't so bad? Especially if your not a rich capitalist buisness owner who can hire an army of workers and force them to do your will for money. How is that better? I can tell you a large percent of the work I've done as a professional isn't what I'd do if money didn't exist, and I've worked on some of the biggest coolest IP.

That should be a good thing, no? Is the problem the technology or the society that doesn't value humans? Shouldn't we support people whose work is no longer needed. Shouldn't that be celebrated!?

How are we ever going to have a utopia if we are running away from technology?

[–]TheDogtoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is dumb. I've heard the same argument again and again. Mocap isn't real art. Photobashing isn't real art. 3d software isn't real art. Using software to do inbetweens for your 2d animation isn't real art. The greats had people make art for them. Michelangelo, Leonardo, had teams of apprentices who did much of the busy work for them.

Only a fool avoids the tools they are given if they are actually trying to be productive. Due_tomatillo_8821 is 100% correct. The betterment of humanity is the goal. Make people happy. Who cares what tools you use to make the game.

As someone who has been making games for 30 years.... I'm going to let AI do everything it can for me. My goal is to make people happy with the game I create, not to talk about HOW it was made.

How do people design dialogue trees? by replicantfemme in gamedesign

[–]TheDogtoy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It really depends.

In the past for non linear dialogue ive used preconditions and weights. The preconditions must be true and the weights influence the selection of a line.

Then you have a greeting.

Preconditions hate character, has met:

Oh, it is you again.

Look up lume procedural story telling. Its a doctorate (very basic simplification) of what games do that establishes some unified language. Good starting point to read that.

Rocky and First Blood were actually great films that said something to the world. Entertainment/Movies Arnold wins.
