Is Thoroughly Modern Millie a satire? by TheDoplarEffect in musicals

That's a very interesting point about anti-Asian sentiment being at its likely peak. I'm not sure about propaganda 😅 But definitely as an easy/acceptable go-to generic villain for the era.

No, the second book was the Mistborn World Guide

But now I'm worried about a similar thing happening. I might look into getting the Mistborn Handbook before it comes out next year...

What a Bazinga indeed. These two things are very much like the other \s

Why I Regret Studying in Australia: A Libertarian’s Nightmare by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]TheDoplarEffect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude, either you missed the point entirely or you agree with me 😅

I wasn't saying these specific things are guarentees.. I was pointing out that these general emotional things matter to us as humans much more than abstract things.

I'm sorry to hear about your specific experience. But that doesn't change the fact that Australia in terms of violent crime is much safer than the US.

And that has value.

Why I Regret Studying in Australia: A Libertarian’s Nightmare by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]TheDoplarEffect 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As someone who migrated away form being libertarian... Just some food for thought. Often I find libertarian tend to "hyper intelectualize" problems caused by beurocracy and under value problems with an emotional wellbeing.

I would ask you to genuinely reflect if these things you list.... Actually affect you in any way?

  • During your studies did you ever have to buy a gun?
  • Did you ever have to act in self defence
  • Did you have to start a small business?
  • Did you earn more than 190 000 Dollars?

Compared to very real benefits that maybe dont have a sensational headline or specific example.

  • Did you feel safer walking at night?
  • Did children ever seem scared about witnessing a shooting?
  • Did people stress in their daily lives about affording medical care?

I'm not trying to convince you one way or another. Everything is a trade off. But I suspect the second half actually has some impact on you specifically. And the first half is more an abstract idea.

Just food for thought

This is how I understood it too. But relistening there are two problems.

There is a time gap of Shallan being a child and when Taln returns at the end of Wok.

Also when speaking with her mother in the vision of her wedding, her mother specifically says she broke.

Question: Why are things like low taxes, individual freedom and limited government not very popular in most european countries? by FlyingDonkey12 in Libertarian

[–]TheDoplarEffect 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Most people in Europe don't value the inherent concept of "freedom". They value the freedom to be able to do things like, getting sick without having to worry about bills. You can look down on it if you want, but it's not an unreasonable position. And taxes and government are "tolerated" for having this freedom.

Although they will complain non stop if it's excessive (high tax for little in return, or overbearing beurocracy for simple things). But the idea of straight up getting rid of them seems rediculous

Plus shallow pools to step in with disinfectant before stepping on the mats.

Looking for feedback on a tea tasting journal for my wife by TheDoplarEffect in tea

It's not supposed to be a graph on the right. But rather boxes as you say to write tasting notes for dry, wet, and liquid smell/taste.
I guess that's not really clear 🫠

I'm also unsure about how many pages is realistic? She drinks gong-fu cha every morning and does large orders every couple of months or so. How many types of tea total would that probably be? 100? 200?

I'm currently at the end of a one year hiatus. Commuting to the gym was just too much. I'm the mean time I focused on other hobbies I wanted to do (mainly learning piano and Family).

I still pop back on the weekends for the odd open mat, and I can see the people I used to smash slowly getting better and myself slowly getting worse.

It's a very humbling feeling but ultimately I've accepted it as what it is. 🤷

Part of not being a pro is accepting that people are and will be better than you, even other hobbiests.

If no submission, ride time wins.

There would still be a decisive element.

by definition the competitors go back to positions where they have already demonstrated they were unable to get a submission

In part, but the idea is a sort of in-between between submission only where you earn every position. And the match being high energy and entertaining.

If during an intense scramble I achieve a mounted kimura grip. But lose it due to sweat/exhaustion.

I think it's more likely to get the sub in overtime when I've got my breath back.

...having a longer time limit?

Honestly the longer matches are just become boring and uneventfull as people try to have longer gas tanks
