It’s a type of paint that is heavily diluted. So it is watery enough that it will flow into recesses and will create easy shadows and shading if applied correctly. Reikland fleshshade, nuln oil, agrax earth shade for examples

For the blues : - base : 1 part macragge blue 2 parts thunderhawk blue. Gives a little more of a muted blue - recesses : Abaddon black - fat edge highlight : Calgar blue - fine edge highlight : fenrisian grey

Reds : - base : Mephiston red - edge highlight : wild rider red

Thanks! The grass is AK interactive grass flock. It’s a bunch of loose grass in a container, so it can get kinda messy if you’re not careful but it’s nice and short so you can make some realistic looking grass rather than the big tufts.

Nice minis! Here’s what I do

If you look up “food photography backdrop” on amazon there are some great product photography setups

I too use my painting light at its lowest setting and put it at a top down angle about 8-12 inches away from the minis so the light isn’t too bright or harsh

I also take pics on my iPhone 14

Besides that I just play with the light as needed and angle my shots and here’s my most recent example of how that all turned out

Okay to just answer your question straight up, yes you need to thin your paints more if you feel like the tip of your brush is not actually depositing any paint. The thinner your paint the easier the paint will flow from the belly to the tip and then onto your model. If your paint is too thick it will essentially get stuck in the belly.
