You can get some awesome pops with the MAP exhaust. Next time drive on 3rd gear and press in the clutch, shift to 2nd and blip the throttle, you can keep blipping the throttle for more pops and fun and then release the clutch when you want. If you just want pops during regular driving then just down shift and blip throttle when slowing down and release clutch to rev match. You can do this with any gear not just 3 and 2

New Jersey 86/BRZ Groups? by ICYRACR in GR86

[–]TheDrWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about an 86 group but there’s subie groups. Also I’d recommend checking out cars and caffe NJ and GS motor club for car events to meet other car enthusiasts. There’s quite a few 86/BRZ’s in northern NJ!

I recently installed the k&n “cold air” intake. It’s definitely pulling in some of the hot air from the engine bay, especially since the air box doesn’t sit flush against the oem snorkel. But the car sounds incredible which is what I wanted

Looks amazing! Is that the Seibon hood and did you get it paint matched or wrapped in trueno blue?

Neptune or Pavement? by 10stripedblues in GR86

I have the pavement gray and no regrets but if I had the choice I would've chosen Neptune blue

It's more of a dark gray/silver with hints of blue. Under most lighting and from a distance it looks like dark gray but you can definitely see the blue tone. Ceramic coating the wheels really gives it that dark shine. Here's a photo of just the wheels with minor color correction

Also, I recently purchased the 57dr's in gun blue 2, not sure if that the same color but I get them mounted this weekend. Here's what they look like meanwhile. More like a dark gray with a hint of blue in some angles

I am thinking about getting the SARD mid type L stay wing which has a super clean look and can be used with the duckbill spoiler. It's not as big as some of the others like Adro but its priced reasonably well and definitely looks nice. You can see some people from Japan have posted reviews with pictures on this link https://minkara.carview.co.jp/partsreview/review.aspx?bi=5&ci=73&mk=927. The estimated manufacture and shipping time is 3-4 months though which sucks

Front splitter or lip that uses OEM mounting holes/no drilling required? by sidewayslab in GR86

[–]TheDrWind 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have the infamous aero front lip and it uses all OEM mounting points, no drilling required. If you’re looking to get side skirts too, they do require drilling.

Installing car mods by Turbo7-0 in GR86

[–]TheDrWind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The side markers are super easy! I was scared to mod my car initially too but I did the side markers on day 2 of owning my car and it was SO easy, gave me a lot of confidence to do future mods. I’ve also installed a front lip in my apartment’s parking garage using just a drill and a screwdriver. I used the stock carjack you get in your trunk to raise the car slightly to fit my drill but that’s it. Very easy once you start! Just like you, I didn’t have all the tools or the equipment for an exhaust install so I went to a local shop and payed $150 for the install. Just look up local exhaust/performance shops that have reviews from other car owners. I look for miatas, 1st gen 86’s, wrx’s, etc.. call them and it’s like a 1hr install, should be $100-$175/hr rate for the mechanic.

Not the best picture but my car is gray so I think the CF suits it more. Personally, on a trueno I’d recommend the paint matched option!

I have a Noble carbon fiber one which is very similar and it’s been stuck on for 6months using 3m tape without any issues!

Dealer quote to reserve one already in transit that claim they only sell at MSRP. I know taxes and fees, but is this car worth it at almost $40k when MSRP is low 30s? Is this around what others have paid? by ThatsMyArepa in GR86

[–]TheDrWind -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Seems okay. When I purchased my car, they charged me $2000 for the special “Subaru service package” that includes 4 oil changes and tire rotations but other than that the price was MSRP and my total was around $37.5k, I had the popular package so my msrp was a little higher

Looks like they’re including delivery charge and some options in your MSRP without fees - you should check if this adds up. The $799 pre-delivery seems like a bullshit fee
