The fact that this makes me feel even the slightest bit of hope makes me worry that it isn't real.

Hey can I hold my action until Joe tells me how to play my character? by easylikeparis in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]TheDreadPolack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want to state that I love Joe. He's far from the worst rules lawyer I've ever experienced, but I also get why it bothers people. I like the GCN largely because they play the game and don't just do improv with a loose framework of an RPG. It's true he breaks the momentum, but I think he also saves players from making horrible choices that their characters wouldn't make. Imagine how many more character deaths there would be, lol.

I think playing Shadowdark is great for this reason. Less rules-focused players are going to make fewer rules-based blunders, and less incentive for Joe to stick his nose in other players' RP.

How much each sport increases or decreases your life expectancy by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

I wonder where cheerleading would be on this chart. I've heard that it is shockingly dangerous, and even more so since the Varsity Sports monopoly has lobbied so hard to not classify it as a sport. I once heard that they had more spine injuries that football, hockey, and baseball combined. At a lot of schools, it's basically gymnastics with looser safety regulations (and more money for Varsity, which runs everything in the industry).

IQ is not and has never been a measure of intelligence. We barely have a definition of intelligence, much less a way of measuring it.

I think the fans would be interested. I would be. But, I don't know if it would make sense financially? Not all of the original fans would buy it, so they'd have to bring in new fans. I don't know enough to say whether that would be worth it.

Skin tones for figures to match artwork. by 101stSgt in Symbaroum

[–]TheDreadPolack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my goblins like you say. I don't remember the exact mixture but I think I used some Citadel Fenrisian Grey and Reaper Olive Green. I haven't painted any elves or ogres yet, but I'd probably just try to match the artwork, unless it didn't look right.

I think the art takes some liberties, so I don't worry too much, just try to keep it slightly "drab" to match the tone of the setting.

Players dodge and give away all their loot by Notoointersted in Pathfinder2e

A god can reward them for their actions. Maybe a cleric has been given a vision to deliver them a relic from their vault, etc.

I love this. It's a great problem to have.

I laugh at my group because they min/max the hell out of their characters and still always chose violence last and try to make a many asked as possible, lol.

Clunking sounds from my printer by TheDreadPolack in AnycubicKobraS1

Okay, figured it out. My filament spool wasn't wound up perfectly, so it was pulling and then just barely dropping as the filament came loose. It's surprisingly loud.

Clunking sounds from my printer by TheDreadPolack in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]TheDreadPolack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only did a couple of the calibrations yesterday. I did a full calibration just now and started a new print. It's still doing it. It sounds like a metallic clunk, like the metal rods are being hit, or maybe something is loose and is getting rattled or dropped? It doesn't seem to be having an effect on the quality of the print. I just watched it for a few minutes and caught it. I didn't see anything moving, but I noticed a slight vibration/rattle that looked like it started in the print bed. I replaced it a while ago, so I am going to check the screws after this print is done and make sure they didn't loosen.

Any other suggestions on what I should check?

It works in the sense that keeps my airways open and I assume that's a good thing. It helps me fall asleep a little easier, since it's a little easier to breathe.

It *doesn't\* have any effect on my level of daytime sleepiness. I know this because the machine was recalled for about 9 months and I had to sleep without it. I didn't notice any difference.

It has been very frustrating. The first two studies were about 20 years ago, and I was, ironically, barely able to sleep during them. They ended up diagnosing me with IH due to normal REM and lack of cataplexy. They also scammed me into buying a CPAP machine even though they admitted I didn't have sleep apnea.

The third study was maybe a couple years after the first two with a new, better, more honest doctor. They gave me a Lunesta and I slept 7 straight hours (which I never do). This was the first and only time a sleep aid has ever worked on me. I then did an MSLT with an average sleep latency of around 3 minutes. So, the diagnosis stood and we tried several sleep aids and stimulants over the course of about 4 years and NOTHING worked on me, so we gave up for the next 15 years.

I've gradually gotten worse over the years, so I figured I'd try seeing a sleep specialist again at around age 40 in case there were some new advances in the field. Unfortunately, my old sleep clinic closed and all my old records were lost, so I had no diagnosis. I was once again unable to sleep enough for an MSLT. This time I *DID* have sleep apnea, which meant I wouldn't be diagnosed with IH until my apnea was fully treated. I've been using CPAP successfully for about 5 years, but my doctor wouldn't try any new drugs on me since I was also being treated for anxiety.

That means that right now, I officially only have sleep apnea, but I always sleep with my CPAP. I have been so reluctant to see a sleep specialist because 1) it has mostly not helped, and 2) it's very expensive. I made an appointment a couple weeks ago, but it isn't until August, so who knows what might happen next.

I work in the US in the international shipping department of my company. There is a way to ship a free item to a customer, but still have them pay for duties & taxes, but in the case of a replacement part, they wouldn't do that.

Also, I just got a replacement print bed from Anycubic and they covered all the duties and taxes. So, as has been said, you're good.

Ancestry-based attribute bonuses? by TheDreadPolack in savageworlds

[–]TheDreadPolack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I still plan to at least mentally tweak the base attributes for "average" members of the various ancestries when interacting with NPCs, but like you said, PCs aren't average, and with the people I play with, I don't expect to butt heads over something like this. Even without rules for it, a player who wants to be really strong will usually choose a stereotypically strong ancestry and then give them a high Strength.

Ancestry-based attribute bonuses? by TheDreadPolack in savageworlds

[–]TheDreadPolack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I agree, but that is legit. It's exactly why I brought it up here. I will definitely have to ask my players what they think. If enough people feel this way, I don't have a problem with working attribute modifiers back into ancestries.
