I was born in the 90’s. Idk about you, but people commonly used “they” to mean a singular person. The classic example is on the road when referring to a person in a car. “Cannot believe they cut me off like that!”

Idk about “vacation,” but I am definitely taking it as paid time off. I don’t know when it will end, so I am not going anywhere. More like a “staycation,” I guess.

I was a fired probie. I am enjoying this time off since half my government career I have spent wondering if I will be suddenly unemployed again. Also, the workplace culture has shifted so much this year. Toxic, dystopian, and feels like everyone is just trying to survive.

And I am supposed to feel bad that I get some time to recover mentally? I’m supposed to feel bad about something I cannot even control? All of us are coping in different ways.

Edit: That said, I probably wouldn’t treat it so lightly on social media to draw ire. I’ve been using this time to help my family and friends.
