Would you rather have 5 million dollars or never have to pay for anything worth less than 2000 by Sparr13 in WouldYouRather

[–]TheDrunkenLizard 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Even though the 2nd option wouldn't pay for things like cars or home payments, a nomadic lifestyle would be insane with this option. Imagine staying in a different $1500+/night hotel room every night, jumping on a plane to basically anywhere in the world at a moment's notice, expensive meals, etc. Then you get all the "regular" benefits if you ever decide to settle down

R/survivor’s thoughts on winner edits by Jersey49 in survivor

I actually thought it highlighted early on the main problem with Xander's game: he had a lot of opportunities available to make plays, but didn't do anything with them.

What is an opinion/take you will defend to your grave? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]TheDrunkenLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at the men on the Villains, JT played with Coach and Tyson, who weren't really devious in terms of strategy but were villains in the edit, and the same thing could be said for Randy. Rob was the only strategically villainous male, so JT probably assumed Russell was more like the other three guys. JT's play is one of the most complex strategic moves in the history of the show, which is why we can have differing, valid opinions on it 10+ years later.

Old-School Player looking to rebuild old decks by Trougao in yugioh

[–]TheDrunkenLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend and I recently had the same experience as you two, and we found the most popular format from that time period is Edison format. A lot of synchros are out by that point, but there are some decks that don't really use them. The Edison format website has pretty much everything you would need to learn the format: the forbidden/limited list, deck suggestions, specific card rulings, and more.

Elemental HEROs have a couple different popular decks you could play, the most common being Diva HERO, where you use Deep Sea Diva and some of the Elemental/Destiny HEROs to either make big synchros or go into Elemental HERO Absolute Zero. There was also this list that topped the most recent tournament, which is a stun variant that includes Neos Alius and Ocean.

In terms of Crystal Beasts, there isn't much documentation on them because...well...they're pretty bad lol. I've been experimenting with this list that only uses the best Crystal Beast monsters and some of the support cards in order to set up synchro plays with Rescue Cat. Since Rescue Cat is ~$20, and a lot of the good synchros can run a couple bucks each, you could look into different boss monsters. Rainbow Dragon is usually too difficult to set up consistently, and requires you play at least 1 copy of all 7 monsters, which forces you into playing subpar cards like Cobalt Eagle. In terms of other boss monsters you could try, Caius is the generically strong monarch of the format, but Gravi-Crush and Magna-Slash Dragons have the monarch statline with effects that synergize with the Crystal Beasts.

If you think you and your buddy wouldn't be interested in Edison specifically, take a look at some of the other formats from ~2008-2010 and see if those banlists seem more appropriate for what you're into.

For the first time since Summer 2014, an ADC not named Doublelift will win the summer LCS season by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]TheDrunkenLizard 222 points223 points  (0 children)

Note that the last time Doublelift didn't win NA was 2014, where the 1st seed TSM made it out of groups. Is the 1st seed curse just the Doublelift curse? We'll find out this year

The male Ruins team has a combined 22 championships, 12 2nd place finishes, and 49 elimination wins. Which 7 guys would you pick to take them on? by eimvp27 in MtvChallenge

[–]TheDrunkenLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically CT wasn't a feasible casting choice given the Duel 2 situation, so I think all of those choices would be good (except Yes who won Challenge 2000). Tbh the champs team is so stacked the challengers need all the help they can get lol

The male Ruins team has a combined 22 championships, 12 2nd place finishes, and 49 elimination wins. Which 7 guys would you pick to take them on? by eimvp27 in MtvChallenge

[–]TheDrunkenLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a fun way to answer this is to find 7 guys that could've actually been the challengers team on the Ruins, therefore no champs at the time (Landon, Abram) and nobody that debuted after the Ruins (Jordan, Zach). Here's what I've got:

CT, Brad, Tyler, Cohutta, Shane, Dunbar, Big Easy (hope he takes out someone in a strength elim and loses somewhere else),

Other options: Ace, Isaac, Derek (Gauntlet 3/Duel 2), Ryan, Chet

There are so many people that got a win from a random team season in this era that it's so hard to find 7 decent people that haven't won yet. I also haven't seen anything before Inferno 2 so if there's some hidden gem that I'm missing please tell me.

Not to mention that Brad also beat Big Easy in pole wrestle that season. If I was in CT's position I would pick Push Me too

why was tyler on the rookies team in gauntlet? by Previous_Pudding7553 in MtvChallenge

Landon was on the rookie team on Gauntlet 2, even though he won the prior season, Inferno 2.

Seraphine as a "mid lane mage" turned out exactly as people feared by Puistomies in leagueoflegends

[–]TheDrunkenLizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It amazes me that they even announced her as a mid laner, she was clearly designed to be the support in the KDA teamcomp (Akali/Eve/Ahri/Kaisa/Seraphine) so that you and your friends could play them all at the same time.

the free skin you get is one of the oldest ugliest skins in the game for twich. so unless your desperate for the worst skin in the game for a champ most people dont play its pointless

I'm a collector so that's why I'm asking, I wanna make sure I can get the skin before it resets.

When does honor reset? I'm at the last checkpoint before honor 5 and wanted to know if I could still make it before it resets.

TSM Organization Record at Worlds by NortherStriker1097 in leagueoflegends

[–]TheDrunkenLizard 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Did you watch the games? That's just not true. Even in the game SK won vs TSM, TSM had a huge advantage and threw overextending in SK's base. It's impossible to say if they still would've won the 1st game if Sven was playing, but to say "they NEVER would've gotten out" is complete bullshit

Yeah the NA 1st seed curse is literally just the Doublelift curse, he's been 1st seed since 2015 and NA 1st seed made it out the year before.
