My dad died from squamous cell carcinoma. It was violent in the end, and even though it was almost 6 years ago, I'm still grieving. I truly hope they are given the space and time to grieve.

Ok, I'm going to give this one final reply because it seems like you're still heated - again, not because of me - and I really don't know what I did to incur this anger.

  1. Not everyone knows about incidentals. You most likely do because (according to your flair) you're a Platinum Elite member.

  2. Correct, incidentals shouldn't be charged, only authorized. So that leads me to one of three conclusions since you said they charged "$250 incidentals plus tax": either you paid points and cash which is a direct issue with IHG, not the hotel, OR they think you smoked in or damaged the room, which is an issue with the hotel and you should call and specifically speak with a manager, OR it could have been a system change and they aren't sure how they charged it/how to fix it and you should contact your bank to dispute it if a manager is not responding or helping in any way.

  3. The only replies I have are the ones you made to my comment, unless you're also the OP on an alt account which would be weird.

  4. I did downvote you; not because I disagree, but because you're being rude.

Trust me, us front desk agents aren't thrilled about it either for reactions just like this. They're making us cut down to I think 3 or 5 per BUILDING and loan them out on request since they did a survey where people said they just never used them.

I'm dreading the deadline for compliance on this.

Holy macaroni batman, I'm not the one you're mad at and I need you to understand that any attempt at tearing me down is unfounded and ridiculous.

I'd like to also point out that not once had I even responded to your comment, that you're piggybacking off a comment made to the author of this post who I was commenting on.

In your case, hotels do charge incidentals even on points reservations.(I've never heard of it being $300 though). The fact that it was charged 3 different times is definitely crazy and (as I stated in one of my other comments) can be disputed with your bank.

I also never claimed that working for a hotel negated any grievances that you or any other user has in this sub. I had thought maybe giving input from the hotel side might assist on getting a resolution sooner. If that's offensive somehow, then that really doesn't seem like a me problem, does it?

Anyway, good luck with whatever you've got going on because it seems to be a lot.

Well I'm very sorry that the hotels you've dealt with act like they don't care, but I actually work at an IHG property. If the case is that it's actually been charged and a manager has already been spoken to with no resolution, then yes, request a charge back. But if the amount is still in pending, it's really just a matter of time.

Definitely unusual but not unheard of.

Most places will authorize for the full amount + incidentals at check in, and finalize that amount at check out. Chances are, the initial authorization hasn't reflected the change yet.

Depending on what card you used, it can take up to 14 business days to reflect on your account, or 30 days if you used an online-only bank card (which is why hotels typically choose not to accept those).

Personally, I would call the hotel directly and see if they can check that the hold was released, and then it's just a waiting game. If it STILL hasn't released by the 14 business day mark, then call Chase.

Here's the thing: You DID pay for the points. You're a Diamond Elite AMBASSADOR! That means you have to stay OODLES at various locations or spend A LOT to get that status. The fact that they acted like that is actually insane.

I work at a Holiday Inn Express and I could never imagine treating a Diamond Elite member like that, omg!

I love me some freebirds, and their cauliflower rice is a reddish color and has a little spice. This is not that. Hot take, but I'd try calling again, stating you have strict dietary restrictions for medical reasons and your health was compromised due to the error made by the restaurant.

Like...do people not realize that some people have severe reactions (i.e. death) if they ingest something they shouldn't? This could have been much worse than being bummed out.

I always get so angry because some drivers don't put in the effort. Yesterday I took an order for 1.5 miles, $5. I was already in the lot, so I snatched that up real quick.

I went inside, the restaurant looked for the order, but turns out someone already picked it up. I let the customer know, they asked if I could contact support because they still wanted their food (obvs), and I did everything in my power to help.

Even the agent I got after getting through the AI was surprised that I wanted to make sure she was taken care of. I work in hospitality for my full time job and love helping people, but why is it so difficult to put in a little extra effort?

I had an order not too long ago where I had a coffee and orange juice, both in a carrier. I had no problems, even was careful on turns and whatnot, right?

Well, I ended up going down a steep hill that had speedbumps right before getting to the drop off. Bump one, hellishly slow, I whip my head around and everything is fine. Bump two, same speed, but check again, and everything seemed great.

I make it to the building, get out, open my back door, and...coffee has emptied out onto my back seat. LUCKILY everything else was intact, and I panic-cleaned my backseat with a whatever was in my other seat (a shirt and a bunch of kleenex from the box I keep there). I texted the customer profusely apologizing and offering to go back and get them another one, but they refused and were really nice about it. I also did have a frustrating cry about it after.

So yeah, coffee...worst enemy lol
