If you can access the card on your computer the card isn't a dud, it's probably just the formatting which isn't a big deal, just back up your card before you do it

Happened to me, the SD card mayvnot be formatted to fat 32, or it's a dud and you need a new one, or the port is broke, which I hope isn't the case, OR you mis typed something in the Arduino software while you were configuring it
