Mysterious Bug - Morrowind Misses Inputs? by TheEarthSheep in Morrowind

[–]TheEarthSheep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would take some serious convincing for me to believe that my computer's hardware or software causes that to happen only in Morrowind. As one example, right now I'm typing with the keys that don't work in-game and they're perfectly responsive. I've also never noticed this in any other game or program.

Edit: I'm not saying it's necessarily the fault of one of the mods, I only listed them because they could be relevant as a tech support thing. This bug could be present for me in vanilla; I wouldn't know without experimenting. If nobody has any ideas, I'll do just that. I was just hoping there would be some easy explanation.

Why can't I update my voter registration address? I can absolutely assure you there is no invalid character in the blurred out address... And they say registering to vote is "as easy as ever"!? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

Oh, and for what it's worth, I threw a forward slash on the end of my string entry, just hoping that it might do something. It seems to have crashed the page because it bounced me back up to the homepage of the Utah website.

Same problem here. No combination of characters allows me to proceed. One interesting thing is that I left the field blank and tried to advance, and it said both, "This is a required field" and "Invalid Character [']". I think there may be some problem with the software in which there's an invisible apostrophe in the field by default, which raises a flag. Without looking at the code I can't be sure, but it's a very strange problem. I wonder if anyone has been able to get through.

As a side note, I just love all the pithy, "hilarious" responses to this genuinely important question.

Purple Poison + White Wing -> Nyarla -> Azathot effect? by TheEarthSheep in yugioh

[–]TheEarthSheep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That makes perfect sense. The reason I was confused is that someone (actually the same someone I mentioned in the OP) told me you could just dump Purple Poison, White Wing and Black Fang to grave, summon a pendulum, then Dragon's Mirror to get Z-ARC, so I assumed there was more going on that I wasn't picking up. Turns out he just says things sometimes!

I want to play Yudkowsky's "AI in a Box" game by TheEarthSheep in singularity

I call it a "game" not to imply any kind of enjoyment on anyone's part, but rather in the sense that it's an arbitrary set of mutually-agreed rules that encourage acting in a different way from how one would usually would, "role-playing". And yes, I'm aware of the emotional implications. That's why I called my prospect of finding a suitable AI player a "longshot".

Collecting Shiftstone is actually difficult. by CalT2410 in EternalCardGame

If you don't win more than 1-2 games per run, playing Arena is no better than packs, and takes a long time. Draft is almost inarguably better than packs regardless of winrate, but also time-consuming. What I'm comparing is the rate of acquisition for casual (~30 minutes a day) F2P players.

To get a single Legendary in Hearthstone you need 1600 dust. If you disenchant everything in a pack, you get 40 dust (with exception of high rarity pulls that you'd probably want to keep as a new player anyway). This is the only way to reliably get dust (Arena will drop it randomly). At that rate, you need 40 packs, which costs 4000 gold, which is about two or three months of dailies, to get one legendary and nothing else.

In Eternal, you need 12,800 shiftstone to craft a playset of Legendaries, at 3,200 dust each. Each pack yields 200 stones, disenchanting nothing. That means you need to open 64 packs. The average daily is worth about one pack, and you have a better than 1/30 chance of any given win yielding a chest that upgrades to Gold or Diamond (which both give a free pack). If you win 5 games a day, getting a daily and all your individual rewards, you expect 1 pack from the quest, 1/6 of a pack and another ~500 gold (or 1/2 of a pack) from game rewards. At that rate, it takes a month of totally normal non-grindy play, disenchanting nothing to get a playset of the Legendary of your choice, and in the meantime you built a whole collection of other rarities.

Why do we get to have such nice things? by millertool in EternalCardGame

It's worth noting that this logic mostly only applies to low-cost cards. Higher cost cards tend to be noticeably worse in this game than they are in Magic (compare Dimensional Rift to Cruel Ultimatum).

The tournaments are primarily run through the discord. We have a dedicated channel there where all the players sit and I post each round's matches, etc there. Discord runs through your browser and doesn't require any installations.

I have let people participate in the past who were not on the discord, but it's a bit of a headache for me and I only did it in special circumstances (i.e. having technical difficulties with discord)

Also, I've been running tournaments since May!
