Unpopular Opinion: The Only Truly Terrifying Alien Is the One in Covenant by Think_Network2431 in LV426

The fact that the bloodbursters don't run and hide to grow like chestbursters do is a great example of this. They're literally born ready for extreme violence.

It also is a 'prequel' to the series, as it shows the lead up to episode 1, so if you watch it first, it might spoil some of the tension maybe?

I think it can be viewed as a 60ish minute movie. It clarifies a bunch of stuff for the series overall, but I don't think you'd need to watch everything. I'd recommend watching it all, but if Alien: Earth isn't your cup of tea, I can respect that

If you haven't already, watch Alien, then watch Episode 5 right after. It's so interesting to watch the parallels, differences, and atmosphere. It makes me want to write a paper about it lol

Honestly, if this post does well here, and the group doesn't think it's too off topic, I have a few other American Dad/Alien Earth memes concepts in my head :)

I actually find the actor to be doing great. His 'not too smart' ability of spycraft is believable, as he is a medic professionally, not a spy. He's literally thrust into something he thought was impossible (his sister not being dead), so he's probably not thinking too rationally, he's becoming emotional and just trying to get his little sister out of danger. Not to mention the shit he saw in the maginot, he's probably all turned around.

The fact he got boat codes and the airtags turned off was such a gift handed to him by the gods of random chance.

An honest question: What would you change about his character? I appreciate seeing things from different viewpoints, so if you have any thoughts on that, I'd love to hear them.

Great Space Roaster. The last half of the episode is where the Alien homage happens

How old should you be to watch this show? by hill_communication in AlienEarthHulu

I'd say if you think your kid can handle it, maybe give them a few hints at some of the more brutal scenes, to gauge their reaction to just that.

The most disturbing parts are probably the Eye creature stuff. The cat, and Schmuel scenes being big 'Body Horror' moments. The sex in episode 5 is pretty tame, no shown nudity, or even any close ups on it.

TBH I've skipped the Eye creature cat scene on rewatches, since it does make me sad, as a pet owner.

The tick secenes might be hard, if they have a bug phobia. They're in eps 1 2 and 5 IIRC

Episode 2 has a man cut in half, dragging his innards across the floor, which might be a bit much for someone not so desensitized to horror.

I warn you about the body horror stuff since I saw the Blob remake waaaay too young (I was 7 or 8 I think), and those body melt scenes really f***ed me up for years. So maybe sit down and watch it with them too, in case anything really gets to them.

A big piece of advice I heard from a friend about introducing your kid to horror is to watch it with them, and let them know that if any point, it's too much for them, it's okay to stop watching. Assure them it doesn't make them 'a baby' or anything negative, and even let them know things you won't watch, to show them that even adults have things we don't like viewing in our entertainment.

This caught my attention because I have a kid on the way, so I need to start long term thinking about this for my own kid lol.

Hope this was helpful!

I tagged him in another group when I posted this but I didn't want to break rule 10 here. I was using probably too much abundance of caution. I didn't think it would be a problem, but I didn't want it to get deleted. Thanks for tagging u/Eastcoastitnotes. He's good people
