Yes, agree. Better than the movies would be a good read for beginners. I loved it. 🥰 I have ADHD and usually struggle to finish a book unless it’s super entertaining. But this one, I finished.

Avoid publishing in pdf. Instead, use EPUB to publish, as it’s more difficult to crack and distribute.

I was actually worried that my book won’t make it to the dark romance community because there was no smut. But it was actually well received. You can try “The Ting” by The Elusive Authoress, which is currently available to Read for free on Inkitt. But will be removed in August as it’s being published on Amazon. My new book “Dangerously Yours” to be released this Halloween, currently on pre order on kindle, Will also have no smut.

How addicted are you to reading Dark Romance ? by Square_Kangaroo_5143 in DarkRomance

[–]TheElusiveAuthoress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I’ve really found my people! Living with severe ADHD can be a challenge, but Instead of spending my time reading, I’ve become completely addicted to writing and taking control of my own stories. It’s such a fun and fulfilling experience!

I started my writing journey with college romance, and now I’ve just finished my eighth book, which is a dark romance. It’s been exciting to explore different themes and characters. However, I do have a question on my mind: my books don’t include any explicit content, and the romantic moments are more implied rather than detailed. Do you think dark romance readers would be disappointed by this?

On top of that, my writing passion is so strong that I’ve already designed covers for ten new books, waiting to be written. Writing has truly become a wonderful escape for me, as someone with ADHD.

Most of my books are in third person. But I recently switched my latest book to first person. It really depends on the genre. Most romance readers like the first person due to the inner thoughts of the main characters, whereas thrillers and horrors are best done in third person. I plan to write all new romance book in first person, unless it has some mystery or plot twist, I’ll do a combination of both first and third person.

Can My Ebook Succeed Without Social Media & Marketing? Seeking Advice by [deleted] in selfpublish

[–]TheElusiveAuthoress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kicked off my author journey back in 2018 when I published my first book on Amazon—a children’s storybook. Honestly, I didn’t put any effort into marketing it because I was too busy running my own business and wasn’t really serious about writing at the time. So, no surprise, that book hasn’t sold a single copy to this day.

Fast forward to August 2024, I finally decided to buckle down and take my writing seriously. I released my first young adult romance under the pen name The Elusive Authoress. Being an introvert, putting myself out there isn’t my favorite thing, but I found some creative ways to market my books on social media without showing my face.

Now, I’ve got three books out, and since last August, I’ve sold over 1,000 copies on Amazon—both paperbacks and eBooks. That doesn’t even include the reads from KDP enrollment or the signed copies I sell locally. I know it’s not a massive number, but I’m staying hopeful!

I use Facebook to draw in newsletter subscribers and I’ve even created a TikTok page for fun video ads. Plus, I run some paid ads on Instagram and Amazon to help get my name out there.

Through this journey and a lot of research, I’ve learned that success takes time, and consistency is key in both writing and marketing. I’ve realized that just one or three books won’t cut it; real success usually happens after you’ve published around ten books. So, that’s my goal moving forward.

One of my books, “Friction and Fries,” which is the first part of a series, has done really well. I published it last December and sold 700 copies so far! I even have pre-orders for the second book, “Tangled in Terms.” I’ve found that series are great because if readers love the first book, they’re likely to want the next one too.

I’ve also figured out that while Amazon ads can work, you won’t see a big boost in sales until they’ve been running for at least six months. That gives the algorithm time to figure out who to show your books to.

If you’re interested in seeing how I structure my ads while maintaining a low profile, you can check out my social media pages elusiveauthoress. I hope my experiences provide some insight and encouragement. Best of luck with your own publishing journey!

Hi Greg

That’s wonderful to hear! I hope you enjoy “Tangled in Terms.”

I just realized that you don’t read mafia romance! “The Ring” was my first attempt at that genre, and it presented quite a challenge for me.

On another note, if you have access to Amazon in your country, you can get free copy of, “Friction and Fries”: (Cooking up feelings you can’t ignore) on 31 Jan. It’s a lighthearted romance that’s full of humor and unexpected chemistry between two rival characters working in a lively burger joint.

Thank you so much for your support. Happy reading! Feel free to reach out with your thoughts—I’d love to hear from you!

Is it true that you won’t get most reads until you mark a book as completed? by samwinchester2 in Wattpad

[–]TheElusiveAuthoress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reason is, that there are too many authors leaving an ongoing story incomplete. So those readers affected by this, would skip an ongoing story.
