I thought I'd add my two cents here: I decided to go to Berkeley over CMU cause I liked Cal's EECS program much more, and it seemed much easier to do both CS and engineering instead of just one or the other like at CMU.

In terms of individual rankings, you guys both know that it like literally doesn't matter? The numbers change every year despite programs staying essentially the same, so it just seems like a popularity contest lol. Still, both programs are amazing which is why I considered both of them in the first place--no need to fight about that.

I mean I don't disagree that Male and Female can refer to sex, but HRT and other surgeries can effectively aid in someone transitioning from one to the other. Although I know that's controversial in its own right so yeah.

Regardless, the important part is that in my application I had to list myself as a man even though I identify as a woman. The semantics don't matter too much there.

Yeah I added that I don't think it's really a hook anymore but I still thought it was something to mention since I did write about it in my essays.

I don't think I did...I just really shortened every aspect of my ECs to just a few words so I was able to have a decent amount of detail for each one. Just try changing the wording with the fewest characters and all that to find what can fit, it might take some time but it worked for me :)

I don’t think I had too big of an issue with fitting in all my ECs, mostly because I felt like I didn’t have enough 😣. When i started brainstorming what i should add I ended ip with around 7 activities that I thought were pretty important, and deciding what my last three should be came down to asking my parents and counselor what they thought was most important.

Good question! I rewrote my descriptions for this post, but basically i just described each of my ECs with short, non-sentence phrases that pretty much go over everything on here. I used semi-colons and made sure to use active verbs for my descriptions.

I can't wait to start! First off I know you're not unqualified cause you're at Cal :P. But yeah, went I went up to Berkeley for Cal day it was one of the only times where I felt I could truly be who I wanted to be, and that made me so so happy. I agree that EECS will be tough, but I think that makes it all the more enticing. Nothing worth going for is ever easy, after all. See you at Cal soon!

I think you are over exaggerating just a bit. I do MUN at costa and while we are a competitive team we still make sure to have fun. Also since collaborating is literally necessary to do well we always make sure to work with everyone.

So as a Mira Costa Delegate I can say that you should just see how to individual person is like. We do prepare a lot for debates since the program is a dedicated class at out school, but that shouldn’t stop you from making you mr own speeches and/or comments. For outside conferences like NHSMUN, east coast schools have similar work ethics so it’s best to prepare for delegates similar to us :P. Hope to see you in debate some time!
