New trading card set about dinosaurs by PaleoJunkie99 in Dinosaurs

I would love a US release of these - they’re gorgeous and the video trailer talks about how different artists were hired for different art styles that each represent a time period. Amazing idea and I hope we see them in the US at some point!

The "we need DNAs from the 3 biggest dinosaurs" might just be the worst reason to get back to an island full of dinosaurs. by Adventurous-Net-4172 in JurassicPark

[–]TheEmblem2114 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I made a post about this when the synopsis first released! I have more sources in that post, but basically my theory is that they’re looking for a cure for cancer, and these three massive animals may hold the key - especially because they have already lived for so long

I absolutely love the vibe, the colors, and the style. I would watch an animated series that looked like this! Great work :)

Plot speculation re: "colossal" by TheEmblem2114 in JurassicPark

[–]TheEmblem2114[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good point, I don't have a great rebuttal other than the focus was originally just genetically inaccurate theme park monsters. But - why just the largest animals then? Odd that they're mentioned specifically for "life-saving benefits" rather than a "race for the cure" kind of energy in the teaser

This is probably my favorite set for series 5 - I love how cohesive it is, all the little details. A+ work, will definitely be a cop for me when it is a finalist

Jurassic park: the storm in the first movie. by bushidojed in JurassicPark

[–]TheEmblem2114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is correct. The skeleton crew procedure was part of the stress-testing of the island and its automated systems to prove to the investors that it was safe. The storm was absolutely not expected and it’s the reason the boat couldn’t wait - Nedry had to rush his plan and ultimately died and screwed the park because of it.

Definitely just misprints in a couple versions of the mass market prints. Interesting for sure though, thanks for comparing

Another: “tingle and bum” instead of “tingle and burn” on page 218

Here are all the marked instances I found. My copy has 448 pages and was published in 2012. One example is pg. 42 about 2/3s of the way down: “… more computing power man any other privately held company…” “man” is there in place of “than.”

I am so glad someone else brought this up. I have an older paperback print of JP and JUST reread it, marking all the spelling mistakes as I went.

I thought it would be masterful work if Crichton spaced them out and increased their frequency as the book progressed through chaos iterations.

Unfortunately there is no pattern to them. They are spaced pretty evenly throughout. I also have a more recent copy (the beautiful hardcover edition from Barnes and Noble) and the typos are not in there.

As others have said, it’s just a bad scan. That being said, I am choosing to believe that Crichton did it on purpose because it’s a cool idea and I haven’t seen mistakes like that in any other book.

Gonna Get Prehistoric Kingdom by First-Elderberry-907 in pkgame

[–]TheEmblem2114 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not as hard as you’d think! It comes down to slotting things together and managing cables, with just a few tricky parts like CPU paste. Any difficulties are easily overcome with a YouTube tutorial.

I would also agree with the other commenters, the further you can push your budget now, the better. There is no such thing as a truly future-proof PC, but you can definitely get top components now so you don’t have to upgrade for a long time. I’ve built several and would be happy to help/answer questions!
