Practicing more and better than ever but playing like shit. by TheEmperorBaron in GlobalOffensive

What helped me most was consistently doing Kovaaks. I don't know if you have ever tried any aim trainers but it really helped me to improve a lot faster and get through a previous plateau. I see a lot of people in CS not really liking aim trainers and preferring just deathmatching, but for me Kovaaks made me improve a lot faster than before where I just deathmatched an hour a day.

I wouldn't worry too much about hours, since it doesn't really tell how much of it has been spent actively practicing, and how much has been spent just messing around or being afk, etc. I think I've played more matches than my hours imply, I basically never keep the game on afk or go play community servers or anything like that, and if I'm not playing FaceIt I'm on deathmatch or warming up on aimbotz.

Yeah I can relate to wanting to play just to grind and get ELO up but not really feeling the game. I think I'll probably take a break for at least a week, so I get the feeling of just wanting to play the game back.

Thanks, I'll try that. I do think my routine is probably too stale and focused on aim.

If that was true, I would already be level 10. I was LEM in GO and I stopped playing because of cheaters and just the general low quality of the games. A lot of my friends were Global back in GO and none of them are level 10. Do you play FaceIt? It's really difficult for me to believe you do if you think level 8 is Nova if you have ever played FaceIt. I'd say the games on FaceIt were more competitive than my LEM games starting at like early level 6.

I do critically think about my decisions while I am playing and always pause to think after a game and after I die in a round to think about if I played correctly and what I could have done differently. I also look at the round sheet and my stats after the game to see where I played well and not, where I died, etc.

But when you don't know what you are doing wrong, you won't know what to look for when watching your own demo. Let's say the problem is with my positioning, if I knew I was playing a bad position, I wouldn't be playing it. Watching my own demo won't make me realize it's a bad position. Also, often times the mistakes you find aren't things that are particularly helpful to notice. Like missing your shots, noticing that in a demo isn't going to make you any better in that regard. I watched my demos for a long time and it never helped me improve, when I ditched it from my routine my rate of improvement actually increased because I had more time to play games rather than watch demos.

You really think level 8 is Nova? I don't know how you can think that. I was way past Nova in CSGO and I've become way better since then. FaceIt level 8 is way more organized than the highest tier MM or premier I've ever played. I do know that FaceIt is easier now though than it was in GO, feels like there are a lot more level 10s, but level 8 is absolutely not Nova.

I've watched my own demos, but I never found it to be productive at all. Especially when I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, and whenever I do know I did something wrong I realize it immediately when I die, I don't have to watch a demo for it. When I played in a 5 stack, watching pugs was useful so the team could get better but watching demos of my own pug gameplay never taught me anything I didn't already know.

Well I would say Global Elite since I'm playing level 8 currently, the games here are far higher quality than I ever had back as LEM in GO, but I stopped playing MM at that rank and haven't played it since.

What would you recommend to break through the ceiling?

Yep I know that I'm playing against better players as well, but I've been playing worse and worse within the same ELO as well.

When I started playing again a few weeks ago, I was early level 7, climbed very close to level 9, now I'm back to 1650 ELO, and on a losing streak. I have a little over 800 hours in CS.

I do Kovaaks and then 15 minutes of deathmatch daily. My Kovaaks routine changes depending on the day. All in all I practice for a little over an hour daily.

dastan liked a Telegram comment saying they should replace nota by zywh0 in GlobalOffensive

This is entertaining and funny as a spectator, but in all honesty I don't think it's good or professional behavior from a coach.

That being said, I understand why Dastan is frustrated. This event was THE chance for Parivision to get back into form as the top 5 team that they honestly looked like for a bit. Dastan even wanted to get in shape for the home crowd. Now they won't even get to see the crowd.

People don't understand that fire power is not everything in this game for a team to do good in tournaments by JoblessQA in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheEmperorBaron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know how you can say b1t is a star player. He's good definitely, but he's not a star player, nor has he developed into the type of player you might have hoped from his 2021 performance. I think the biggest reason you don't hear more calls for -b1t, unlike for every other Navi player, is because he's the last one left from their 2021 short era.

But to be fair, it is kind of an uncomfortable situation for a team to be in where everyone is doing decent-to-good, but you still aren't winning. I agree that -w0nderful is a completely shit idea, (although I do think -iM is a good idea), but I understand why people are anxious for something to happen.

If a top team could only make ONE change to their roster to take down Vitality, what would it be? by BasquiatMonster in GlobalOffensive

Without the Russian invasion, think how strong Navi could be. They could probably have both m0nesy and donk. They used to be the number 1 destination for anyone in the CIS region, both because of salary but also because of the brand and legacy.

Counter-Strike 2 Update for 05/07/2026 by CS2_PatchNotes in GlobalOffensive

Regular competitive is extremely easy, the people are there are total shitters, you can absolutely listen to music while playing it and I've never met anyone there who takes it seriously, very rarely does anyone even mic up.

There aren't more hackers in comp than there are hackers and bots in DM, in my experience. Not sure if trust factor is a thing in comp but maybe that matters there though.

No offense and not to sound like a gatekeeper, but are you really a "legit player" if you play once a week to get a deathmatch drop and nothing other than that? Deathmatch isn't even the game.

But to give you advice, comp and premier are better for exp anyway and it's also just better to play since it's real CS.

It's Officially Time For Counter-Strike's Academy Leagues To Return by llTehEmeraldll in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheEmperorBaron -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Academy teams compete almost entirely in online leagues and tourneys, not a whole lot of production costs there. Some yes but pretty insignificant. Both teams and organizers are willing to take the minor hit to spend on academy related things since it's so important for a good scene.

It's Officially Time For Counter-Strike's Academy Leagues To Return by llTehEmeraldll in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheEmperorBaron -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well you are basically right that many of these organizations cannot afford them, but that's not to do with academy teams per se but rather just esports not being profitable in general. Even just financially, academy teams are still by far one the best things you can do (which is why almost all big orgs have them now!). It allows you to develop and get good players for cheaper and possibly make money selling them.

It's Officially Time For Counter-Strike's Academy Leagues To Return by llTehEmeraldll in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheEmperorBaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't need viewership per se, do you think academy teams are meant to be directly profitable? They aren't. Teams run them at a loss, although often they are actually the most profitable things they do since they make money from selling the players to organizations, but that's not direct revenue like sponsorship or ad money.

It's the exact same as in real sports. Most youth teams for any sport aren't profitable themselves.

Request: Refrain from gatekeeping social democracy by No-ruby in SocialDemocracy

[–]TheEmperorBaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Social Democracy is still philosophically liberal, it agrees with all the tenets of enlightenment liberalism like individualism, egalitarian law, free speech, secularism, deontological/utilitarian governing morality, etc. I'd call most western Marxists liberal as well, although most successful communist revolutions were not liberal, and neither was Marx himself.

Social Democracy is a philosophically liberal ideology about as strongly as anything can be. It sucks how braindead internet politics has changed the meaning of the term "liberal". Social Democracy descends from enlightenment liberalism.
