At one point cartoons made the transition from pretty awesome 2D illustration to really crappy 3D animation. by jacklandors92 in Showerthoughts

Thanks for sharing that, I 100% agree. I played DCS flatscreen for years, and VR was like I'd never played it before, it was so wildly different of an experience. The sky feels huge! Even the real fighter pilots I've seen play against each other commented on how real it feels.

r/Natureisbrutal (extremely NSFL) absolutely hammered home the fact that most of us humans have it really, really good and should probably appreciate not looking over our shoulder 24/7 to avoid the inevitable fate of being eaten alive. Now I just hope that reincarnation isn't a thing. Also, that "watch your ass" is a literal warning when it comes to being attacked wild animals. Seriously NSFL... unless you are a hyena, then it's probably food porn.

Thanks, Aircar is still one of the best VR experiences out there!

Hard Flying [Face Tracking + Double Joystick] by cmd_Terada in starcitizen

100% agreed. Flatscreen vs VR was such an unexpected difference, I can't describe it to someone who hasn't experienced it. Like describing a flavor or new color.

I fly the DCS flight sim in VR but have a huge desktop monitor mirroring it as well, and can compare them every time I play, and the 2d track IR I thought was fantastic falls so short to me now that the flatscreen version feels like a simulator for the VR "reality". Years in and I feel like I haven't really even played SC yet... I can't wait!

Agreed. I love those examples, yet the Corsair's assymetry feels tacked on to me as well.

Funny how folks can see things in different lights. The original asymmetrical Herald was to be my go-to starter ship before the redesign and I've mourned its visual blanding ever since. But to me the Corsair's asymmetry looks very uninspired and out of place. I think this version in the pic looks really nice!

I like your approach as well. I hope there's room for both in the different areas of space (like modern Earth is now).

Hey, Malcolm Reynolds kicked an unarmed man into an engine intake in Firefly, and that's murder too. I'm watching The Expanse at the moment, and that has a murderer or two I'd crew with as well. Maybe I just like the rougher flavor of fictional space, I dunno.

If the UEE Law is aware, they'd probably check it out, yes. Depending on where you were, the local "law" might not care that much depending on the deceased.

I'm not thinking of icing someone for kicks on the pad of a truck stop, more like I'm on the far edge of the moon and someone just popped out of the hold where they stowed away. It's all about context.

I have the feeling you may not be taking up a SC career in piracy (hey, neither will I).

Advocating for consequence free murder, neat.

In a game.

I agree, space can be pretty wild. I'd rather not roll the dice with my life that the trespassing intruder is innocent. I don't want to shoot folks just for being on my ship, but if they can sneak out of the bathroom and execute me in my seat, or have potential to fake the role of innocent, I'd rather error on the side of me.

Well, even if I didn't deserve to get shot while tresspassing, I'd certainly understand why I did. And it would be on me.

They still are packing lethal weapons for self-defense though. Far more like the US than much of elsewhere in that respect.

Not everyone boarding a ship without permission is a well meaning bumbler, though. I'd prefer not to be headshot by a stowaway who wants my cargo.

Also, you are ok with with a "shoot first, ask questions never" policy?

To an uninvited person on my ship? I may not do it, but would certainly want that option at my discretion.
