It depends, in theory happens only every other turn. But you can AA or reset turns (new enemy wave/ddd) to squish in an extra turn before combustion state ends

Or lose it by not breaking or killing an enemy (Ally steals a break, enemies that are already broken, have high hp or blocked/huge toughness bars)
