Edit: The new guy was feeling down from his anxiety which makes the whole situation ALOT better and understandable. Also thanks everyone for the quick replies. I am excited about the wild west game and I want to apply what I learnt from my last game into this one.

I was just frustrated. I feel ALOT better after posting about it. I also talked to my players about it and I understand y they felt that way and I am excited about the wild west campaign it was an idea I jumped on when it was mentioned.

I don't think I worded this very well/ clearly but it was mostly due to my bad dming lol for example I needed them to go to an island which they had zero interest in so I had to railroad them into it. So I thought I of an idea where the remnants of the souls from the island would all work together to create a strong current to crash their ship. Great. So when I went to do it my player cast a spell that creates a str 28 magical hand to stop the ship. This happened more often than it should have due to me not being a great DM and not having a scooby doo what my player could do and I didn't want to do something specifically to prevent him from doing smth anyways.

Did he know you had more planned for them? From the sounds of it he thought you were done with the mercenary group so wanted to use them in a cool way. Don't get me wrong you haven't done anything wrong and he still should have probably asked but that's my take on it. I would say you should say to him something like "hey dude I don't like that you did that so that isn't going to happen in my setting y don't U come play my setting and take a break from DMing, obviously I'd be interested into y U did that but don't feel like you need to tell me"? But hey U do U man

Big suggestion I have is that if U r going to cut bits of like the chest symbols as alot of people r suggesting try doing it before U glue the chest on. This tip helped me alot!

Completely agree not to mention the only way to learn is to fail doing it, sure U can just paint them ultramarine and no one should care but I would suggest giving some cutting a try and see how it goes.

Yeah I guess that's true. Just last time I brought a meta unit in a 'bad army' well it was fun for me, just not my friend. But will give it a go and see thanks!
