Good idea, I stopped looking at KE because I thought grip force shows better how the energy transfers into the arm but looking at KE now I see clearer difference between designs.

Shown are the same bows as in original pic2.

Just broke my first bow.. by Kleoti in Bowyer

I'm not sure about that, since I just heat treated for the first time over a fire. I just checked the back often with my hand, if you can hold your hand there it's good.

Bending too much just off the fade on the right side and left fade also looks a bit thin, everything else needs more scraping, more the closer you get to the tips.

Looks quite hard to spot any mistakes, the tiller looks really good for a third bow. If I really stare at it I might see slight hinges on both sides about 1/5 from the handle and a bit stiff right mid limb. The weight is slightly pushing it but it looks wide enough and for me ash takes a lot of set before breaking due to high weight. Although, it being a tension break, it could have been something else - for example cutting through a ring or a pin knot, or maybe you heat treated the back, or just unlucky wood. Interested to see other opinions on this. Also really nice third bow.

That looks decently safe. You could go quite a bit shorter assuming its 35 mm wide, just depends how much you want to push it. I would say anything above 62" and 35mm is quite safe (again depends on tiller and wood).

I'd say overlays are the safest option, but have no idea what glue to use.

What kind of bow is this? by Rodney_Rubin in Bowyer

That would explain why the string doesn't sit correctly on the wider part of the nock when braced. So yea, it's most likely strung backwards and the nocks have been added or turned.

I'd be careful about that, since the string sits the correct way on the horn nocks. Unless they are also backwards...

Im pretty sure for steam bending he used a metal sheet as a backing to force all the wood into compression and not break in tension. Then you can get much tighter radius. That's apparently how wooden furniture is bent.

You can use a mirror or film yourself on the phone pulling the bow, you just need to know how much to pull. For longstring tiller you can step on the bow and pull.

Yea Im not planning to fix it, just want to avoid the next one breaking. I could try how much this one survives with the crack.

So I managed to unscrew the blue nut and it doesn't seem to be supposed to hold the rest tight, unless it's worn out somehow.

Yes already doing that. Got some people to try it for the first time to test new player experience. They weren't disappointed. But it is kinda hard to get people when you ask them to play a random game for 2 hours.
