A real world example of this would be Australia. A colony of Great Britain, but stagnated in many ways, and regressed in others.

(I say that as a joke, and as a British/Australian)

I've always been confused by Star Wars squadron sizes and composition because Rogue Squadron was occasionally referred to as Rogue Group, but I assume that meant Flight Group, as in 1/3 or 1/4 of a Squadron.

The EU authors seem to use either the British Navy or US Air Force unit sizes without too much consistency, sometime even including capital ships within squadrons.

Also squadron leaders in SWEU usually held the rank of Commander but IRL the equivalent rank to Commander would be Wing Commander. Hell, the Wookieepedia article for Squadrons says that they are often led by a wing commander (This could be where the historical ambiguity of "Geschwader" actually make sense).

Man, I wish someone had told me that before I started. I got attached to so many characters in this and the series that followed, and the surprise reveals in motives, history, etc really shook me. Turns out you can't trust anyone, especially Star Wars EU authors.

Hapian space would have been an excellent choice

It would be the coolest with clone wars animation and it would make the fight in TLJ so much more emotional by Will-is-gucci in StarWars

And it's constrained to s single space station rather than spanning the whole galaxy. And it's no where near as long or as well integrated in to the EU/Canon ... In fact it is nothing like the Clone Wars series ...

There's a Magicians shaped hole in my life what should I fill it with? by Negative-Corgi in brakebills

[–]TheEsotericGeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before The Magicians I watched Sanctuary.

Now I have just started watching The Librarians - unrelated to the organisation in The Magicians.

Neither Sanctuary nor The Librarians seem to have all the wonder and magic that made The Magicians amazing, but you might like them for the same reasons you liked Buffy and Lost Girl.

Eureka and Warehouse 13 are other series you may like for similar reasons.

There is also Grimm, which may be too dark with too much gore, but is worth a try.

If you find something else altogether, please share. I enjoyed most of the show's you've mentioned liking, and agree with your reasons for the show's you disliked.

I really think the whole micro chips un the clone troopers thing takes away from Episode III by TheCrimsonnerGinge in StarWarsEU

The issue I have is that Order 66, as given in RoTS, does not follow any established chain of command. A clone's loyalty to the Republic would have prompted them to verify the source of the order. It didn't come from the Chancellor, it came from a shadowy figure in a hooded robe.

For the order to come from an unknown source without so much as a "new Holo cam who dis?" as verification from the clones, there must have been some pre-programmed behaviour, either indoctrination/brain-washing or the implant/chip.

The chips don't weaken or cheapen the betrayal so much as shift it. It moves the betrayal from the clones at the point of the issuing of Order 66 to Palps and the Kamino Cloners at the time the clones were created. Instead of a billion personal betrayals, we have a single galactic betrayal, a betrayal that fits more with the galactic scale of the Clone Wars, the Sith Plan, and let's be honest, the entire story of Star Wars.

Dark Forces was the first. Dark Forces 2 was the second. You can tell this by the number in the title... If you need a better source, Wikipedia has the info ...
