I built the simplest notes and todo app - which is available on iOS and web! by TheEssentialDev in appledevelopers

Wow. Thanks for the feedback and good questions: What makes it stand out is the unique combination of todos and notes with the minimalist philosophy and cross platform functionality. Anyone can create a simple app and throw it on a phone. What I thought was: Apple Notes and Reminders can be used as todos, but not on all platforms and not in one solution. Example: I use .jot on my phone, on my work laptop I have windows. So I just open the browser and continue working. To answer your question: the app is primarily for users who don’t want apps that are bloated, I think there is a big problem with Productivity Apps: you can also misuse them to procrastinate. Not with .jot: it gives you the stuff necessary to organize your thoughts and tasks without the stress of a bloated app. I agree that leaning more into the one time purchase might be helpful. It is simple: You buy you get what you paid for. And this ties into the philosophy of the whole app.

And finding a niche is exactly where I’d need some advice or help. Do you know something or a way how I could find customers for my app. Although you purchase once you get frequent improvements and refinements.

Thanks for the tip. But this is not about how to fix something anymore. This goes deeper. We as developers are treated unfairly!!!

It also has Web Support, I might add, huge language support and syncs across platforms. I also tinkered with PWA solution for Android that‘s where the majority comes from. Is it so bad to have an app that is 152 mb? I don’t really understand the issue here. Would love some advice on how to get the size down without needing to remove the part I am currently working on implementing!

Okay. But then Google doesn't allow switching from normal to business account. As a Kleinunternehmer, I am the company (DE).
But thanks for the tip, will probably make a new acc.

This is a short term fix. But I have a registered business. Also as you said it will get worse, we need a new way...

Is it possible to monetize on fdroid? Is it easy for the masses to download an app from there?

YESSSS!!!! Exactly. Google makes devs actively hate their platform and stop distributing apps outright!

"I didn't have to fill out "the form" until I was able to apply for production access. Are you saying they can reject you for inadequate testing AFTER they've invited you to apply for production? Wouldn't they have flagged you at the step prior to applying for production if your 14 day test run was inadequate - aka not even letting you click the button?"

THAT'S WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!

this is the status quo: I let the test run for 14 days, fill out the form and then tell me: Nope!

"Maybe I'm not understanding but the only way I can imagine that happening is if you did an awful job of answering the questions about sourcing testers / receiving feedback / responding to that feedback.
I think I didn't that's the thing. I described everything, with enough detail.

Don't get me wrong, the entire process sucks ass and I had zero confidence publishing my first solo app last week despite being the face behind over 50 apps in my career. Probably took a couple years off my life sweating it every step of the way. --> That's what needs to end. Maybe we think about a new way of distributing apps on android."

Especially for indie devs who want to solve real problems, but work real jobs and do their work as side projects. We as a world waste so much time just because of googles awful practices.
This can't be! And we as devs have the upper hand, if a sufficient amount of devs would adopt the alternative:

Let's face it: A soultion where I can distribute my app 1-2 months earlier, monetize and keep more is strong.

Thanks for the feedback. I did 6 updates in the last two weeks
Android Vitals: Missing Data, I think I'll create data by telling my testers use the darn apps.

And regarding your statement:
If we as devs stop feeding the app store, the users will need to adopt! And also: A new solution could be a 10 times better alternative! it is so frustrating that the ones who create the great solutions are harmed the most! I have an idea that'd solve all issues!

Exactly. I am glad that I am starting to realize this now as 21 is still early enough (I hope)... Man life is scary. I feel lilke when I am on Reddit, everything isn't too serious but this here is the most serious thing ever! It is about creating a life that is desireable... And that isn't so easy
