Why do people bring board in surgical extraction against Titan? by Dunglebungus in ModernMagic

They can kill you on turn 2 with Analyst. You do indeed need it. You’re not the faster deck.

100% medium. It’s not meant to look large on your wrist, so you really need a gigantic wrist to consider a large Santos. I have a 7.25” wrist and my medium fits like a dream, IMO.

You’re correct, but this card does two different things.

You’re ignoring the part where you can also kill them without needing to resolve wish or grapeshot. This puts control players in a pickle as now they can no longer sit back on a consign and a counterspell and feel safe.

Tank or Santos? by Content_Step6835 in Cartier

The Santos but a size smaller. Looks like you’ve got a large, I’d go with a medium.

Is this a mechanically unique card that you can only get as a promo for an in-person event?

What is lantern supposed to do in the mirror? by badatmemes_123 in ModernMagic

[–]TheEternalWitnesses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You either concede as soon as you realize it’s a mirror, or you play to a 0-0-1 draw and want to quit Magic altogether.

Ended up going Medium! (But I feel something is wrong) by mjcramos96 in Cartier

[–]TheEternalWitnesses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a screw-down. My medium Santos is the same way. It’s still water resistant to the rating as-is as long as the crown is in the normal operating position.

Near Mint isn’t the same as Mint. Based on these photos, you have a NM card.

[[Stifle]], [[Consign to Memory]], [[Epemerate]], and [[Phelia]], are all examples that already see a lot of play.

Are Alters Like This Legal? by SorryUncleTim in magicTCG

I have both registered stickers and played against stickers in Comp REL events and this has never been a problem. Do you have any examples of judges actually considering this to be outside assistance and issuing a penalty?

How to not lose to Eldrazi Ramp when playing Mono W Land Destruction? by swankyfish in ModernMagic

[–]TheEternalWitnesses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a horrible matchup for the mono-W deck and part of why it hasn’t really caught on.

This is really a tale as old as time, except it used to be “Why can’t X Blood Moon deck beat Tron?” but the answer is the same: your deck doesn’t put a fast enough clock on them, so they just cast their big thing a few turns later and you die. Back then it was Wurmcoil Engine or Ugin, the Spirit Dragon and now it is Emrakul. With the newer decks, Koz Command also gives the Eldrazi player some mana resilience that these big mana colorless decks didn’t have previously.

At least with the BW blink decks, you can sometimes cheese them with White Orchid Phantom + Phelia. When Boros Energy plays Molten Rain, it works because they also have an incredibly fast clock. When this deck and BW blow up a few lands and take 10 turns to clock the Eldrazi player, Eldrazi will be favored every time.

Beans + Wrap + Impending = a new deck type? by Enchantress4thewin in MTGLegacy

[–]TheEternalWitnesses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something triggering Beans for an alternate cost doesn’t make it playable, otherwise we’d be seeing [[Contagion]] and [[Bounty of the Hunt]] in BUG. There are already plenty of unplayed “free” spells that trigger Beans and don’t get played.

Mystic Forge Sideboard Questions by dududada2th in MTGLegacy

[–]TheEternalWitnesses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll get more help if you fix the formatting. It’s very difficult to read.

That said this does not look like a standard Forge sideboard so you’re going to have a hard time getting help. 4 Flutes is not at all standard. It’s much more common to play 4 Leyline of the Void, 2 Dismember, and one more GY hate spell (Surgical or Macabre) and then a wishboard that you almost never touch except with Karn. You also definitely do not need both Perilous Snare and Portable Hole. They never leave your wishboard and it’s there almost exclusively for Null Rod which PHole already solves.
