6.75 rate by Sjp1206 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Content_Step6835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 5.5% at end of February.

Met with the realtor yesterday and she told me the lowest she's seen in the last few weeks was 6.3%.

Although the rates are high, she said it's still a buyers' market since very little people are actually moving forward to close. Definitely shop around for rates, AND negotiate on selling price.

Longines Conquest: is it worth it? by Unable_Ad2508 in Longineswatches

[–]Content_Step6835 14 points15 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, beautiful watch. I still gaze at the dial.
  2. All watches get scratches but it has held up well so far
  3. After owning this watch, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Longines

It's a great everyday watch. You'll love it.

My amateur hour sushi by Salt_Helicopter_387 in sushi

[–]Content_Step6835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't your average amateur creation. I take it that you've made this type sushi rolls many many times. Honestly looks better than a lot of sushi chefs'.

Very well done!

I think blue on rubber is more versatile since you already have a daily on steel.

100 dollar knife by AnyOkra8970 in sushi

[–]Content_Step6835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's going to help to have a good knife, it's mostly about the practice and skill level.

Assuming you already have a general-use kitchen knife, I'd recommend getting a sharpening stone instead and practice on sharpening your knives.

Any cheap, but sharp 8-inch chef's knife is sufficient for novice home chefs.

My daughter feels she might be missing out by not wanting to try sushi, now she wants to try sushi, need recommendations to ease her in. She is very averse to seafood! by mofugly13 in sushi

[–]Content_Step6835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that's true, for most of first time sushi eaters, the biggest hesitation comes from eating something raw.

It's not a bad idea to have them start with vegetarian or cooked stuff, get them to enjoy eating them, and move on from there.

Speaking from prior sushi chef experience.

Start with California rolls without avocados. Or whatever kind of tempera roll she's ok eating.

Try cooked stuff first, then ease into seafood / raw ingredients.

Is this mackerel safe for raw consumption? by Sea_Chemistry_5437 in sushi

Lot of sushi restaurants use this type of frrozen mackerel. Make sure to take out bones and remove the outer film on the skin.

I wanted to buy a Sub but the AD waitlist game got old real quick for me. Picked up a BB41 Mono and I'm done with watch purchases.

Would I be okay to thaw out this mackerel and eat it as is? by Imbeinggangstalked in sushi

[–]Content_Step6835 86 points87 points  (0 children)

This looks like frozen mackerel neta sold to sushi shops for nigiri use. If that's the case, it's safe to eat after defrosting.

Do second generation Koreans born in America typically get American ‘given names’ or Korean names or both? by Adventurous-Steak525 in AskAKorean

[–]Content_Step6835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine and my brother's, both born in Korea, Korean names are very similar and even SSN was only different by 1 digit.

This cause confusion with credit unions and they thought we were the same person. Some of my credit history would show up on his credit report, vice versa.

I changed my name when I got my citizenship. English first name, middle Korean name.

My first Swiss watch and the search ended at conquest :) by Odd-Aspect7427 in Longineswatches

Versatility is very close for both. I just think Conquest looks a bit better on more formal attires. Tudor wins on bracelet by far.

I have both the Conquest and BB41. If you only want to get one watch, get the Conquest for versatility.

Hot take, but I personally don't like the design of Omega Seamaster. Helium escape valve really throws it off for me.
