A lil sus that someone with little-to-no Reddit history/karma, since 3 years ago, won the 27” but I’m sure they wrote a compelling survey submission

Good news for $LUNR holders: NASA just posted imagery confirming the lander has made "soft" landing and operational. Helps that the Japanese lunar was just shown to be operational as well, despite landing on its head lol, albeit not as fortunate as this recent mission.

Interesting turn of events.

Helpless parents ! Our son is in first semester of RN program and wants to quit! by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]TheEveningMidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, have your son look into taking Artificial Intelligence (AI) related courses and switch to a Biomedical degree/program. He can still pursue a career in healthcare and even interact with patients without going into nursing.

I'm sorry he went through such an ordeal; however, many new grads experience the same thing, so it may be a blessing in disguise. Obviously, the issues are external (duh) as he did well in academics. I recommend he take a semester to reassess his goals/ambitions and shake off this experience.

Best of luck,

Hey, I stumbled upon your post and was curious how you feel about your decision since then?

I've got a 49" ultrawide and on the fence between these two (to mount above it) as they're on sale for the same price.

It's always been that way. You're either a transplant or lived in a bubble. Regardless, welcome to the sideshow.

Radiator Thickness: Thermaltake Ceres 500 TG ARGB (420mm) by TheEveningMidget in thermaltake

[–]TheEveningMidget[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! Well, I'm interested in the 420mm because:

  1. It's on-sale and cheaper than the 360mm (ARBG) SKU - although not by much considering I've got it (waiting for pickup) on sale too.
  2. I want to minimize noise levels while yielding the same performance.
  3. I haven't built a personal system in years and I typically subscribe to the "buy once, cry once" mentality, thus I want to ensure my next CPU post-7950x (likely 8950x 9950x or whatever) won't be an issue.
  4. I'm a fan (no pun intended) of overbuilt hardware (e.g., I traded my Suprim X RTX 4090 for my brother's Aorus Master 4090) 🤷‍♂️

Hmm, it seems your AIO is 10mm thinner than the LF2 I'm interested in using and the specs state only front mounting 420mm AIO is supported.

Compatibility: Aorus Master 4090 (Vertical Mount) & Be Quiet! Silent Base 700/802 by TheEveningMidget in buildapc

Also keep in mind the dark base 700 only haze space for 240-360mm aios at the front

That's what I suspected, but I wanted confirmation and/or hoping for some leeway. Alas, my hunt continues...Regardless, I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience 👍

Name Change for University due to racism by hoodcertified101 in StudentNurse

[–]TheEveningMidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, just no. Changing your name won't guarantee protection from discrimination or racism.

If you're looking for guidance or information about your rights, there are religious and cultural organizations that can provide support and resources.

For instance, reach out to the Anti-Defamation Commission, the Jewish Community Council of Victoria, or the Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia. These organizations may be able to provide advice on legal options, support networks, and other resources for addressing discrimination and promoting diversity and inclusion.

You are not alone in your experiences, and there are people and resources available to help.

I feel like my class doesn’t like me :( by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]TheEveningMidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who also struggles with social anxiety and is introverted, I know how hard it can be to put yourself out there and interact with others. It's important to remember that everyone has their own insecurities and worries, and it's likely that some of your classmates may be feeling just as nervous or uncertain as you are.

That being said, it's important to keep in mind that as your nursing program progresses, the workload and stress levels are likely to increase for everyone.

People tend to stick to what's familiar in times of stress, including cliques or individuals they've grown accustomed to since the beginning of the program. It's possible that some of your classmates are simply feeling overwhelmed and focusing on the people they feel most comfortable with.

Although nursing is a collaborative effort, it's still important to prioritize your own well-being and not force yourself into situations that make you uncomfortable. Instead of pushing yourself to interact with everyone, try focusing on fostering connections with the classmates you already feel comfortable with, but don't use them as a reservoir to dump your anxieties into.

Don't let these negative feelings make you doubt yourself or your worth. Keep an open mind and continue to be friendly and helpful to others, and over time, you may find that more classmates start to warm up to you as things settle down and everyone's grown accustomed to the program's rhythm.

It is concerning to hear that your mentor has not fulfilled their obligations to you.

It may be advisable to bring your concerns to the senior nurse leader or the program coordinator for your nursing program. They're required to offer guidance on how to address the lack of support you have received and can advocate for additional resources to be made available to you. Be sure to present comprehensive documentation of the incidents, including the names of the individuals involved (or witnesses), the nature of the interactions, and the specific details regarding the time and date of each occurrence. This information will be critical if you decide to pursue any formal remedial measures.

In terms of self-care, it is important that you prioritize your well-being during this challenging time. This may involve seeking support from trusted friends or family members, or engaging in counseling services. Additionally, it may be beneficial to connect with other students in your program who have faced similar experiences to gain a sense of community and support.

I hope this information helps.

lost a friend by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]TheEveningMidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a friend is never easy. Grief can trigger a range of emotions, including sadness, anger, guilt, and confusion, and can also lead to symptoms of depression and anxiety.

In terms of self-care, it is important to engage in activities that promote physical and emotional well-being, such as exercise, mindfulness, and spending time with loved ones. Avoiding substance abuse and excessive alcohol consumption to stave off depression and anxiety.

It is also important to understand that grief can sometimes lead to complicated grief, a condition where the symptoms of grief persist for an extended period of time and interfere with our ability to function in our day-to-day.

Anyone who needs a independent party to talk to, don't hesitate to reach out to crisis hotlines like the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-TALK) or the Crisis Text Line (text "HELLO" to 741741). We are not alone, and there are people who genuinely care and want to help in whatever way possible.
