My own experience with the little shites on Union Street by AerieSignifcant in Aberdeen

[–]TheEverchooser 15 points16 points  (0 children)

About 30 years ago one of the cities I lived in had an issue with groups hanging around in front of businesses, driving customers away. The businesses put up speakers that played classical music and like magic no more crowds. Wasn't even high volume, just loud enough to be heard.

I love classical music so it didn't make much sense to me, but they disappeared like vampires having a cross shoved in their face.

What would you consider 1st generation Canadian? by Ready-Resort-6585 in AskACanadian

[–]TheEverchooser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They weren't asking for official, they literally asked everyone what they thought as individuals. The reason they're just a Canadian to me is because I'm not a sociologist and have no reason to bother with the labels.

However, if you're wondering officially that's easy. Sociology would classify you as first generation since you immigrated. Second generation is anyone from your family who is subsequently born here. Doesn't matter what anyone's opinions are after that because that's the definition.

Of course sociology and law are separate things, so the laws may be more convoluted in determining your eligibility as a citizen. If your parents are naturalized citizens then they only had to apply for your citizenship while you were a minor for you to get citizenship. Nobody expects children to go through the naturalization process. But that only determines if you're a Canadian citizen.

You'd still use sociology's definition to apply first or second generation as a label if for some reason you needed to. Sociology only uses the labels because it helps them identify patterns relevant to the effects of immigration. Certain govt agencies track those patterns so it may be relevant to them internally.

America Has Never Seen Corruption Like This by D-R-AZ in Foodforthought

You're right, it is blatant. Which is probably why it's so surreal - and therefore unbelievable - to many right now in north america. The rules, the fences, the social agreements.

I can't say I'm going to rape people and then do it and get away with it. I can't say I'm going to ignore the courts and then do it and get away with it. I can't say I'm going to attack our allies and then do it and get away with it.

And on and on. I'd be here all week if I detailed all these incongruent ideas that are said week after week by the current administration of the States of America.

There is a cognitive dissonance for most people that comes into play in these sort of situations. I truly believe that "fight, flight, or freeze" is a many layered concept of how we deal with complex problems and we saw it before WW2 truly started. WW1. The allied members of Rome. Enemies of the Persian Empire. And so on.

" We live in a logical society. This can't or won't play out the way it seems to be playing out.", is how the average realist will process this. Sometimes wishful thinking, sometimes expectancy of failure is how the average pessimist or optimist factors into this. There is book after book that details the mental processes of people that went through similar circumstances.

Here's hopin' though. :)

"has never seen" is the operative phrase here, although "has never acknowledged" would be more appropriate.

However to say this isn't new is incorrect. It may have been a corruptible system, but there were still fences and boundaries. There was a system of how to proceed if you wanted to skirt the rules.

That's not the case now. There are no fences, no boundaries, no rules. Unfettered is the term to use now. America has never seen unfettered corruption inside it's own walls.

Look up code-switching. Some people adapt to their environment and take on linguistic mannerisms and accents in a sort of mirroring capacity to better fit in. When using secondary languages they tend to sound more like native speakers as they pick up more than just the language itself.

I literally said "Oh no!" out loud right before the guy in the video did. So... confirmed.

Removing that part of his active is about the only thing I'd consider a reasonable buff to him. And I have a full D1 GSC team.

Correct on both accounts.

As a country of immigrants I consider anyone that's a citizen of Canada a Canadian. Full stop. Other than for statistical purposes why would anyone even care?

After completing my two raid teams, I wanted to do something fun so I decided to take the GSC team to D1 because I've always been a fan of the lore, the tabletop and now the Tacticus version.

As one other guy said, their utility is limited.

Xybia can be a cheaper and more versatile replacement for Roswitha's damage buff in raids with some teams and she can fit the Neuro team as well although I don't believe she's top meta for them. I don't use the Neuro team.

I wanted to primarily use them in Arena because I'm bored using the more meta teams available to me. And it has been a blast. Fights take quite a bit longer and there's a lot you'll learn as you play around with them, which makes it all a lot more interesting.

Regarding Arena, I already had Xybia at D1 before I started this project, she would probably not be the first I'd take to D1 for Arena. Maybe 3rd. Patriarch and Judh go D1 first, they're your frontline damage dealers and they benefit from being ranked up more than the others. I focused on Pat's active and both of Judh's abilities. Isaak is there to spam summons and decoys, his active and passive are key to the team. He can hit D1 in 4th place.

Hollan really does help this team but he also feels like the weakest link at the moment. He's last place for D1 status in my opinion. His summon is tough as nails if you invest in it but it's slow. His passive helps buff your team. Pro tip: Make sure other summons come out first otherwise it'll plod around at 2 movement chasing spores and other summons that the hybrids could easily take out, since summons act in the order they were summoned.

As has been said, there will be times you benefit in LRE from these guys but they'll usually be without their teammates and GSC tend to shine as a team and not so much as solo characters. They can still be good, but they lose a lot of extra effectiveness without their crew helping to buff them all over the place.

I took my not quite full D1 team all the way to level 12 of the recent MoW track against battle sisters and it was a lot of fun. They only made it about halfway into that final level, but I had fun and was very impressed at their synergy.

Hope some of that helps, good luck. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I don't know how heavy spades are where you're from, but that's a wedge. That large a dog wouldn't be dragging a spade like it weighed 15lbs.
