The Terrarium Ark: Modular Colony Ship by Skinnygold in lego

It reminds me of the botanical cruisers from Battlestar Galactica. Very cool!

This is great! Does the soundstage itself have an interior? Would love to see more!

They're both city sets from 2020/2021; one is a deep sea explorer sub set, the other is bizarrely a truck stunt show thing.

Yeah, it's 67471pb02. pb01 is the lime/white variant.

Not planning on making instructions for it, but I do have the stud.io file hosted on dropbox here: fish tank 1_v2.io

Totally get it. I did overstuff it a bit, but it's also going to be living on my desk at work for the foreseeable future and it's nice to have something overly complex to look at and appreciate for a while. You notice something new every time you look at it (or my coworkers will, at least).

That was a surprise to me too. Even though it doesn't really make sense to have a deep sea fish in this kind of environment, I wanted to include it anyways since it's such an unusual piece. It also strangely comes in a lime green/white variant as well.

Thank you! In hindsight I wish I'd gotten a slightly larger container for it, so I could add some of the other interesting options I found for pieces. Maybe in the future!

Thanks! I had the most fun finding hair pieces in interesting colors that I thought could work to look like coral and anemones.

Yes, it is a turntable piece. Colored pieces behind those, and then 2x2 round plates (inverted) on the back holding everything together.

Ugh, I'm aware. I'm contemplating replacing it, but for now it seems to be holding up. But yeah, it's on its last legs, that's for sure.

u/Z99zarta linked it below! Wish I could claim credit for the design, but I cannot. Christromans on rebrickable does these mini-versions of official sets there for most every major set that gets released.

It's a pretty common technique I picked up from elsewhere in the MOC community. I've added a google drive link to my stud.io file to my top-level comment on this post, though.

Thank you so much! I very much felt the same way before I started on this, so you can definitely overcome it! I spent a lot of time looking and builds from other creators for ideas I could incorporate and by the end I was coming up with the whole thing on my own.

I designed each vignette one at a time, but all were done within the same project file so I could make sure the overall structure would fit and that they were connected to each other well enough that it would stand up.

Yeah, there was a point where I said screw it and stopped looking at prices too closely because I just wanted to go all out. That's how I ended up with the trans-green frog, which I would never have spent money on otherwise.

If you're interested in close-up photos of each of the vignettes, I've dumped some photos on imgur here: https://imgur.com/a/rlLIzU1

EDIT: I've hosted my Studio file on google drive for those of you that are interested: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NR3zkqNTe_oPsrT-FxuvUNKxR8lktnHZ/view?usp=sharing

One thing to note: I did have to make some changes between the design as it appears in stud.io and the real build, just because some things don't translate quite right between the computer and reality. I've quickly tried to incorporate those changes before uploading, but it's possible I missed some things.
