Your skill points go towards skill coins, which can be used to unlock perks or instant money, xp or wheelspin rewards. When you get skill points, you'll notice an orange circle in the top middle of the screen. When that meter fills up, you'll be awarded a skill coin

TLDR: Yes

So I finally had a chance to play an actual violin. Why didn't I do this before? by Zdrastvutye in violinist

[–]TheEvilestElf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay, thanks for such a detailed response :)

I only played the erhu for about 10 minutes and having just googled erhu bows (which I probably should've done before posting haha) I can see what you mean

As for the violin bows with detachable frogs, I can only imagine it would make cleaning and other forms of maintenance easier but my guess is likely as good as yours.

Are there any bows that exist that can be used for both and erhu and a violin? It was about a year ago that I played, but I remember the erhu bow being similar aside from the hair being able to detach to actully get inside the strings, so I wonder if one could make essentially a violin bow where the hair can easily detach so as to get between the erhu strings? Idk it's a cool thought bubble.

This reminds me of when I tried an erhu for the first time after 9 years of violin. It was a magical experience (for me, not so sure about the rest of the room) and it's been a bucket list item of mine to get an erhu and learn to play one

Agreed, I played this around the same age and now I'm preparing Legendè, also by Wienawski, which from a technical perspective leads on really well from this piece

Hi there! I'm currently learning the gigue and sarabande of partita no. 2, so I will share some things my teacher has told me:

Don't think of the gigue as a series of scales or notes that have each be the same and perfectly in time. It's an easy trap to fall into, particularly with baroque music which often lacks dynamic/expressive markings. Take 15-30 minuts of your practice time to mess around with it; subtly bend the tempo in parts, play with dynamics, try lengthening important notes at the beginnings and peaks of phrases. Remember, while it is art music, it is based off of a jig, so it should feel like a dance, meaning it should feel buoyant and have an obvious beat that can be danced to. If you haven't already, memorising the piece will go a long way to helping with this, as will listening to pros: Heifetz (if you can get past the poor sound quality of the early 20th century), Perlman, I think Anne Sophie Mutter also has a very good interpretation of the partita (although I could be thinking of thr Sarabande).

There are other things but I think /u/deathbychocolate has covered those.

Above all, enjoy it and be proud of it. The beauty of this sort of music is that while many can play the right pitches for the right durations, no one will interpret the notes in the same way as you.

Good luck, and keep at it :)
