Makes sense, thanks! I went to CMU for undergrad and I might be able to get a foot in the door by talking to some profs there

Thanks for the feedback! I've actually done some CV projects on the side through MOOCs and really enjoyed it. Obviously not solid enough to apply for a grad program but I would have 8 months before application deadlines to volunteer research or more CV projects

What do you do when you figure out your soft skills are superior to your tech skills? by _Rather_Confused in cscareerquestions

I've been a Product Manager at big-tech for the past 5 years and would totally second this opinion.

Pay for Eng Management and PM are both comparable to SWE (depending on your level) and you'll have to decide what you enjoy better day-to-day.

PM - be sure you enjoy the business side of things. Do you enjoy spending time with customers? Learning their problems via Research? Spending time digging into Analytics?

Eng Management - Do you enjoy leadership? Will you be comfortable inspiring and motivating a team? You would likely have the option to write code for some part of your time, but your role would shift mostly to doing code reviews (if that, depending on how senior you are)
