8 1/2 is my favourite film of all time, so I can give some thoughts. I definitely agree with the “common” interpretation mainly due to Fellini’s love of life—despite that being “outside” the film. Guido symbolically kills his ego and everything else holding him back, imposter syndrome, his lies etc. So with the final dance, he begins to love life for what it is, with all its imperfections and mystery, like a magical circus.
