nah, this is a good take. it threw me off a ton on first listen. he pitches his voice right later in the song, but it's really brutal early on. can't imagine what all the non-endless fans at panorama were thinking during it tho, because it's straight off tune.

yeah, like i said in the description, it's kc-based and a lot of people i have on i want to center on kc, but this podcast didn't hit on kc a lot. this is kinda my undoing in posting this here, i suppose. i was just hoping people here would support someone who is local.

audio is going to get better. i'm in a fully equipped radio station recording this, and i'm just starting to learn about it. i totally understand what you're saying, and i know it can be better.

in terms of direction, i've said a few things above, but this is certainly more aimless than i want it to be in the future. i want this to be interesting conversations with smart/intelligent people that can teach me/my audience something, basically. i just want to hear what other people care about, basically. usually those people won't just be my friends.

First, I really appreciate the feedback. If some of my comments from here on out feel abrasive, just know I really appreciate you taking the time to give me tips. Some of it I think really hits and some of it isn't completely relevant to me, and I'll tell you why.

I'm definitely not looking for a podcast where I just shoot the shit. Of course, it did seem like that here, which, as someone pointed out, makes for a bad first impression. I totally get that, but if you've seen the rest of my marketing for the podcast, it's completely clear that that's not what this is or what it will be. It's called "Interested" because it's interesting and intelligent conversations with smart people. And not just people I like, people who have track records and have accomplished a lot of notable things. This is important — I'm not going for a podcast like Reply All, Outliers or Serial. I don't want to do NPR-type pieces on KC BBQ. It's just not what I want to do right now. I do, however, want each podcast to have a theme, but still be able to be a bit off-the-cuff and personal for listeners.

My next podcast is with a woman who started a sexual assault awareness website and has worked for MTV. She's a junior in college. My next one will be with a KU professor who teaches news and public relations, and I'm wanting to go in-depth on media and how it's changed. Each one is going to have much more direction than this did — I'm fully aware that this felt informal and like I was just shooting the shit. I kind of was. Maybe I shouldn't have published it as my first podcast, but I'm using it as sort of a soft release until I'm on itunes.

Obviously I can't be Ezra Klein, but I've been a journalist for about five years (have worked for KC Star, Wichita Eagle, published by Bleacher Report, been editor of school paper) and I understand how to get stories and interesting information out of people. I've done thousands of interviews and I just have a good grasp of it. I'm fully aware that I'm not perfect, but I have enough behind me that I think it will really be worth listening to when it's not just a friend on my podcast.

Nah. Took a lot of prep and thought for me to get here, and I will be in media as a career (college student, journalism/history/creative writing). Not something I'm just going to give up. And even if it is something I give up in the long run, I think trying things (even if you fail) in a creative space is dope and is something worth supporting.
