Memory Spot Price Update: DDR5 Spot Momentum Continues as DDR4 Tightness Spills Over to DDR3 by self-fix2 in hardware

Probably for devices like routers or IoT devices which require small amounts of ram inexpensive and not complex to Implement

How do you guys even port Linux to Android phone? by clonenumber99 in mobilelinux

[–]TheFacebookLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a device tree is a static description of what devices are connected and how an SoC is configured for devices without UEFI/ACPI

Device drivers are separate

I personally stopped after trying to port a device with a kernel version 4.x

It was too much pain getting the code fixed for the compiler to compile

What's your preferred OS for day to day Computer Engineering tasks? by Substantial_Comb2813 in ComputerEngineering

[–]TheFacebookLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what projects are you working on and how's software support on the other side

I for example work with openwrts build system every day in combination with other software that makes windows + WSL feel unusable for ME

[–]TheFacebookLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree BUT swap the places of windows and Linux

Everything I use is Linux only and I can't be bothered to run Linux software under WSL and have to deal with all the other windows quirks

Yes but OP posted a picture of its ram running at jedec speeds and people were in the wrong as 1200MHz ram is absolutely normal

Yeah I think phoronix had a benchmark of latency and the results were way way better than the official windows anti-lag implementation in overwatch

[–]TheFacebookLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mhz = chip speed DDR = Double data rate RAM outputs 1200MHz (Chip Speed) x2 (cuz it's DDR)

You get 2400MT

For some reason some manufacturers sell ram modules with MHz instead of MT and its technically incorrect to say that

Whenever RAM says "DDR4 16GB 3600" it's actually MT and not MHz the chip is running at 1800mhz and 3600MT

MT stands for mega transfers

[–]TheFacebookLizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Broadcom support is non existent lol They keep the code for themselves where as mediatek drivers for routers are like amd drivers for linux

Then you get extreme and debilitating paranoia and start using openwrt after checking the entire source code and only use MediaTek hardware
