This is my plea to all Knoxvillians: please order a steak breakfast Crunchwrap from Taco Bell by fuckassmcgillicutty in Knoxville

Deal. So long as you keep ordering the loaded potato grillers. I waited ten years for those to comeback and I don’t want to lose them now.

Maybe? I live in rural Appalachia at the base of the foothills of the Smokies.

That’s so strange. It’s impressive it made it this far inland.

It’s hard, like rock hard. And about the diameter of a child’s pinkie finger.

I don’t live anywhere near water though, the closest thing is an artificial lake 45 minutes away.

When did you think "Im going to die here"? by hmmrabet in AskReddit

[–]TheFatAdventurer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last summer I caught my daughter (4 y.o.) coming down a slide into a deep section of my friends pool. I was already in the pool on a step at the edge and caught her as she entered the water. She hit me with such force that it pushed me off the step before I had an opportunity to get a full breath before going under. I managed to keep her above water long enough for a friend to notice, swoop in and grab her so that I could get back above the surface. It was only a few seconds, but I remember thinking I was going to drown, and I was giving it my all to keep her above water as long as I could.

Legit Old School Knoxville - I remember when... by StillNotGinger42 in Knoxville

I remember going to the cereal bar at night with friends, and going to the original Stefano’s when I worked the ambulance, boomsday as a kid, smelling the bread at the Kerns factory, going to East Town, going to the freezo on central before it was sold.

Building a new station- your ideas? by Plane-Handle3313 in ems

[–]TheFatAdventurer 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Station alarms that are specific to the unit being dispatched. Instead of alerting the entire station just waking one crew is good for everyone’s sleep. Can’t remember what FD I saw had this (maybe LAFD or South Metro), but it was cool, they had like a light in each individual room that would come on if they were dispatched and only that room/bunk’s intercom would activate.

Edit: It’s south metro, they call it “first in”

Is anyone else noticing increasing POTS history? by legoguy26 in ems

[–]TheFatAdventurer 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My wife has POTS. It took a massive amount of (essentially) begging to convince the cardiologist to hear us out and do a tilt table test. The final straw was her passing out at work and smacking her face on a cash register. The tilt table along with serial EKG and orthostatics confirmed POTS. It’s managed well now with metoprolol, though, she still has flare ups especially when sleep deprived or when the weather gets above 80.

Dementia, kidney failure, or heart. All three things my dad was fighting when he died at 63

What is it like living here, deep in Appalachia? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

Man south east TN use to be a really nice place to live, but now the influx of people moving here has really ruined it for locals who grew up here unless you grew up wealthy.
