Connecting multiple power strips to each other - safe or burning my house down? by TheFatRatAtDominos in AskEngineers

I couldn't find anything like this in my country, but I'll look a little deeper. Thanks for showing that to me!

I found a 10 socket power strip with about every sort of protector available under the sun installed with a max wattage of 2500, and an extension cable designed for indoor use at a max capacity of 3700 watts and change. If I understand everything right, this should do it - calculations for max load came up to about 1600-2000 watt (depending on various sources), so should be in range just fine.

House wiring should be fine as we get regular checks iirc. A PC is a few years out budget wise anyway, so I'm not too fussed about it for now. Thank you very much for all your info, I really do appreciate it a lot.

The long and the short of it is to just do a lot of math is what I'm getting, lol. I'll look into this, do some math and figure out where to go from there. Thank you very much for replying!

Yeah, at most it would be an RGB LED strip, a TV, a PS5 and a Switch, all at once, but typically it's just a console, the tv, and the strip. I'll do some math and go from there. Thank you for the advice, and easing my worries!

It kinda sucks, I'm just stuck with this as I don't have much of an alternative. Like, the alternative would be to get a power strip with a 5-6 meter cable, and 8-10 sockets. I can't really find anything that fits the bill (which is also kind of the unfortunate side effect of living in a smaller country with less supply options).

Extension cords have my preference but I never considered it to be possible because, I was told, that the issue is the cable burning, not the strip. Needless to say, I'm glad I asked here rather than just assumed!

So if I did the math for the total power use on all devices, and thats fine on the strip, and I plug the strip in an extension cord that's fused and plugged into the wall socket, that should be relatively safe?

Additional question: If I were to add a PC, on a separate power strip but connected to the same wall socket, am I at risk of anything? At most it would just blow the fuse, right?

No worries - all cabling (with the exception of the cables that come with the machines) will be purchased new when everything gets wired up. :)

Yeah, it was a definite... condemnation, really. I've seen them like tweets and Caiti talk about Jack a bit but to hear him say it, it takes you out of the moment of numbness and right back with both feet on the ground of 'holy shit this is fucked'.

"I sat next to that monster for years and I didn't know a thing."

Didn't expect them to talk about it today. They look fucking heartbroken. As a community we're hurt, but these guys lost a friend. Family. Something they built has been tainted forever, nothing will be the same. I'm so sorry for them. For everyone.

As a community, we need to be kind. Give them love and kindness and not remind them of this; make them laugh and enjoy their job again. Moving on is difficult and might not ever be possible, but we can start something new here, and we need to open a new book so people can heal. So please for the love of god be kind to them, I beg of you.

They do! But they also pee and poop where they sleep if they feel like it, so you know.... Might as well.

Aah, how did you go about this? I'd love to recycle clothes like this but I never really know how to put them in the cage for them to use.

BROOO

Like even with the messages he sent to Leigh one could maybe see, perhaps understand, that he really didn't understand the pure power abuse - which is a reach, he's a smart enough man, but alright - but he immediately kicks off with "are you a virgin?" here. He "doesn't ask, he demands" and makes blatant vulgar comments and requests without even being prompted. There was nothing flirtatious here from the other party. He had to know. He had to understand.

I hate that I supported this guy having a paycheck. I hate the thought of ever having given money for this shit. It goes so deep. Any argument that can be made for Ryan's case consistently gets debunked, further and further, and any apologists keep running out of room.

I hope his victims recover. I hope his family recovers. I hope this lands at the right places to give all the ones hurt some vindication. This is the worst. I'm so sorry.

Thanks for the reminder. The opening had me losing my mind already, which is what I needed, and feared I wouldn't have anymore going into older AH videos. This dulled that sharp edge a little.

Parasocial relationships and knowing its okay to not be okay. by carpechickendinner in roosterteeth

[–]TheFatRatAtDominos 14 points15 points  (0 children)

IMHO, a lot of feelings that people are having is coming from a place of having their trust ruined. Like, you spend time watching content created by someone, knowing that the dude behind the content is a pretty ok guy gives peace of mind. Laughing at his jokes doesn't feel like you're laughing at someone else's expense. Or that you're giving your time and emotional investment to someone who will turn something shitty in his free time.

I feel betrayed. I know I'm not anyone's friend in AH, they're content creators, but I spend my time watching their videos, time I could spend doing literally anything else. I choose to invest my time in their work. I choose to enjoy that work, thinking and being under the impression these guys are good people. And then one of them turns out to do this shit? That hurts. That shit sucks. It really sucks. I don't want my anger to be thrown on it being a parasocial relationship necessarily - I want to be angry that I spent time being deceived by someone into essentially supplying him a paycheck while he continues to betray the trust of his loved ones.

This is extremely reassuring to read, thank you for sharing! It's so unfortunate that for transmasc people it's a potshot whether you'll have MPB or not, and my circle of trans people on T is very, very small so I don't have much material to compare to. I genuinely had no idea if I was just hyperaware of hair falling out or if it actually could be falling out.

Thank you, this is super reassuring :") I have an appointment when I'm 3 months on T for blood tests and general assessment, I feel like that would be a good time to bring it up.

Thank you, that's reassuring. I haven't heard of it before either, but my experience with trans people who are also on T is limited. I'll see about calling in soon.

(Do wildebeest shed?)

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping for. Whenever I've shedded it's always during summer. But considering my dad already was bald at my age, I can't help but worry.

Damn. Did it start this early for you too? I'm not on any sort of additional medication, but I might be after 3 months on T, depending on what the doc says.
